5/5/10 live: Spew, weak, or standard?

Long time lurker, rare poster, thought I might start to post some hands from my weekly live PLO session. In case I do post more hands, I'll give a brief background.

The game is 5/5 PLO (4 card), runs most days, and 90%+ of the time, the table agrees to straddle so it generally plays like 5/5/10. In a given session, there are usually 2 or 3 pros, 2 or 3 thinking/recreational players, and then various "action" or weak players. I consider myself in the middle category. I only play once per week, so am probably playing less than 400 hours a year, and over two years have been a small winner. I have a tight/solid image.

In this hand, I had just re-bought for 1k, so maybe my image isn't the best currently, and am the effective stack. Button (action player who raises frequently, loves to see flops, but only 3 or 4 bets with aces) opens to 40. Small blind 3-bets to 135. He is also in the middle category of player but is loose/aggressive. I am in the straddle and have Q J 9 8, ssdd. I flat and button flats, so the pot is 410 (time game). Flop is K 10 5 rainbow (h s c so I have 1 bdfd). Small blind/3 better leads for 325. I call with my bottom/sucker wrap, button folds, so there is a little over 1k in the pot. Turn is 2 of hearts so now a back door flush draw. Small blind puts me all in, so I have to call my remaining 500ish getting 3 to 1. I call.

I'm most interested in flop decision since I considered all three options, but any comments on pre-flop and turn are appreciated. I can post my thought process and results if anyone is interested.

Your hand basically plays itself after you flat pf. You can consider 4b your hand pf instead esp if you think SB is capable of folding some of the weaker stuff he may be 3b with vs the action player

As played with the flat pf tho you don't really have any fold equity vs SB on the flop vs that sizing and the rest of the hand plays out pretty standard. Jamming doesn't serve much purpose, if BTN flopped a set or bigger wrap or something he's never folding it and we don't mind him coming in with AKxx with our hand

I can't say it's a mistake to call pre (solver calls QJT9ds and 4b your hand). But 4b is a huge mistake against players who never fold. And calling just doesn't seem very profitable OOP post and not closing action pre.

I think raising flop makes sense. Folding out AA is a huge win for you, and you still have 42% equity vs sets. Only reason to call would be to keep BTN in the pot, but I think max fold equity is more important.

SB is about as close to 0% folding after betting 325 with 540 behind even with dry AA...he's already made his mind up to stack off vs us with this bet size. If we had like 800-900 behind jamming flop would have much more merit

We're doing fine vs top set already and rekt vs AQJx/AAQJ but there is some level of merit to getting BTN to fold something like QJT6 if we think he's capable of folding that when we jam, it sounds like he may not be tho

I would shove flop, getting button to fold any straight draw (especially a broadway gutter that dominates us) is a good result.

I fold pre not closing the action but call QJT8ds, KQT9ds. Maybe not a great distinction but it's what I do.

As played at spr 2 I just shove. Fear of domination is overidden by denying button some equity and realization across turns and rivers.

vs LAG I 4b call off pre, especially only 100bb, I’m also jamming flop to deny equity to the 3rd player

vs TAG I call pre instead and then jam flop

The BDFD is what makes this pretty simple, if you had 2 BDFD you are fist pumping. 0 we just call
