Nah, just golf in Florida or some such after the fall season.

You have the right instinct, John. Make sure you have an idea of what to do post-work before pulling the trigger. It's great for a few weeks to have nothing to do and just laze around, but that gets pretty old, pretty fast.

My fear is that I would laze around all the time. I have many friends, but I tend not to reach out to them for some reason, so I spend a lot of time alone. Probably too much.

But I'm comfortable traveling alone.

Nothing wrong with alone. I tend to be a loner myself but for sure reach out to friends especially if they are retired as well. Used to have a group to go out to breakfast with once a week pre-covid. Covid ended it and then one guy died and another moved away.

Then again you could always take up day drinking 😀

living live untethered to the humbilical cord

Pretty much untethered and unburdened these days anyway. Should I need to move, I can be out of my apartment in one day.

Can you leave your family? You have kids and grandkids and obligations to petsit! Right now I can't. Otherwise I would be out of shithole Illinois like a gunshot! When I can I most definitely will. But no idea when that will be?

If I didn't have family in the area, I would think about moving somewhere, maybe N. Carolina. Even Florida for the winter.

One of my best friends lives in Oak Park, so I do get out there every so often. I like that area of Chicago.

I have mastered the Irish goodbye.

My mom and my aunts solved problems between them by not talking to each other for a year or two.

My two brothers and I would get into an occasional argument, but we got over things easily.

The not talking seems to be common with the Irish.

Sabermetrics is getting out of hand. They keep inventing new stuff all the time. I prefer the classics myself.

is not force over mass a most common policing technique
weather or knot you just quant quit parsing expectations of free advance f=ma wind knowledge
during the most common of whether situations depends on if you are also expecting involving topical depressions resulting in baseball sized hail.

Baseball question (probably f=ma won't answer the question): Does a hit ball travel farther in a day with low humidity or high?

The answer should be obvious.

Low. At Coors in Colorado they store the balls in a humidifier so they don't travel as far in th thinner air of the higher elevation. At least they used to?

My understanding is that it's a combination of low humidity and thin atmosphere here. Fewer molecules to push through, and the low humidity means those molecules are less dense.

In other Coors Field news, I got a ticket to a concert there in October. Some guy named McCartney. I guess he's had some success. Assume he's related to the Buffs' ex-head-coach.

Google it guys.

Exactly. Therefore less drag crisis.

So how come it doesn't feel less dense?

Looking over more baseball facts. Only one player, elected by the baseball writers, has received 100% of the Hall of Fame votes.

He deserved it, but it's hard to believe players such as Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Joe DiMaggio, and Ted Williams didn't.

Name the player who got the 100%.

He deserved it, but in no way should he have been the first, let alone the only.

There are 2/3* in the five subsequent classes that should’ve been unanimous, and 8-12 in the previous five—one in particular being so egregious in light of no possible or even imaginable *

I get the first. The voters don't care for DHs. The second should have been, and two, Jeter and Suzuki, almost were unanimous. It's hard to believe at least any writer would leave them off the ballot.

I think Ted Williams lost out on two MVPs because a couple Boston writers left him off ballots completely.

Maddux absolutely should’ve been unanimous.

Pedro would’ve been MVP in ‘99 had two writers not left him off their ballots.

And as if we needed another sign of how far baseball has fallen in the public eye:
