The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet

Liberals up to 200 seats in polling, CPC down to 115. Massive majority if election held today. I know shifty just loves to drone in about “elbows up” as if it was some rug pull that that tricked Canadians for a brief moment, but polling has only improved with carney in office despite the massive headwinds from Trump.

We know Canada isn’t a serious country. What point are you trying to make?

im not sure why we would care about polling when we have no election in site. Hey your guy won copying most of Trudeau's stupid policies and running on the same platform as the CPC

One of those policies the carbon tax . Note inflation dropped because of the removal of the carbon tax on gasoline.

Lol. So he is both copying Trudeau and copying the CPC at the same time? Did Trudeau's Platform = Poilievre's Platform or something in your mind?

by lozen

ONote inflation dropped because of the removal of the carbon tax on gasoline.

False. The removal of the carbon tax was a one-time drop from the prior multiple years of increases all at a single time in the month it occurred, with small tailing effects after that as it works through the economy. Inflation over the prior month is now almost entirely removed from carbon tax. And it proved the lie that no, most of the inflation we saw was not the carbon tax - you should stop listening to conservatives - and when it was removed had a small, one-time effect.

Ooops.

But hey, you made it a whole post without sneaking in pathetic digs about trans issues! Good job!

Yes I enjoy making fun of it. What are your top 3 things Carney has done so far.

I mean carney is a center-right politician. He’s more lozen’s boy than mine, but for lozen’s partisanship that blinds him. Cut carbon tax, capital gains tax, income tax. You are of course a climate denying Trump supporting antivaxxer whose only big government policy is banning the drugs you don’t consume. So he won’t seem right wing to you. But pretty orthodox centrism here.

ya there's no serious polling going on atm. that's silly to even talk about. There is barely adequate polling going on during election time and that was off quite a bit so there's no way its accurate you need a big sample size and no one is wasting money on useless polling. popularity is always high in the first year so its probably true but the sample size of these "polls" is probably like 100 people. anyway why did i get baited into the uke and lozen thread again

PARLAMENT HASINT EVEN CONVENED YET LMAO. nothing has happened since the election

Oh he has definitely been more to the right of the fool Trudeau but let’s judge him in a few years after he has passed more legislation. Though I’ll give him credit for cancelling the carbon tax amount all the outrage from 80 % of the folks that got back more than they paid

More lies from Uke I believe in climate change and sadly without a carbon tax no white Christmas and more forest fires
As for Trump unlike Uke I can admit when I am wrong
As for vaccines I support personal choice
It’s why I get a flu vaccine and deny a covid vaccine

The model I quoted aggregated 4 polls that were released in the last week from the four major polling companies. Each was the typical 1k to 2k respondents which is statistically significant. So no, this is more like 6000 people not 100 as you suggest. The reason polling keeps happening is that there are always other issues polled with them (the who would you vote for today is just one question), so it can mostly interested in polling about say trump tariffs and then adds that question. So sure these are not completely golden, but the basic fact of a Carney honeymoon seems pretty solid.

Now that is has happened, notice how the conservative lies about the carbon tax have all been revealed to be completely false? It barely touched inflation. The economy barely budged. Does anyone feel they magically have way more money in their pockets now that they don't get the rebate checks? The net winners of the carbon tax were always poorer people, do those people magically find themselves better off in today's economy? **** no.

I'm not sure why you tried to insert more antivaxxer talking points in. I did notice that - sadly - the albertan government has stopped even paying for covid vaccines for those who "personally choose" them. But BC announced they will provide them free to any alberta who crosses the border so maybe BC gets some nice tourism dollars!

I hope Canada decides to resolve its financial woes by confiscating citizen bitcoin. Make it illegal, block all off ramps, don't let citizens flee the country, and just take it all. Rob them blind

That would bring me the greatest amount of laughs and joy of any possible future

But you voted for him and jerk off to his polling numbers. So answer the question.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Shoving his excellent poll numbers in your face is mostly just to show how silly your narrative that Canadians were all tricked were by "elbows up". Now the "trick" has been revealed, and Canadians like him more than when they elected him!

Look I'm too the left of Carney by a good bunch. I don't like that he cancelled the carbon tax, even if I understand why he had to politically. But I'm glad he left the industrial carbon tax in, and that at least is better that Poilievre who would do nothing. I'll be disappointed when the EV mandate is seemingly inevitably chipped away at, but I'll understand when the US does less than nothing.

so you need to block all canadians from ever again leaving the country because you can't know who owns bitcoins? i don't understand what you are asking here.

The session has not even started yet and trump is still tariffing us. there's no reason to believe he wouldn't go up

bra why you targeting me. The only reason I have any future is bitcoin 😡 luckily its been in cold storage for like a decade so they couldn't if they wanted too. The only people who would lose crypto in a government purge are the silly people who let them know about it. i haven't even really followed government overregulation since they banned binance something happening?

hey I didn’t disagree with your point that it’s too early to judge carneys PM, I’m just saying the polling is not 100 it’s more like 6000 from four companies and reliable enough to mention trendlines.

I’m not sure if we can share Facebook posts . One of my friends attended would I attend? Nope but I’ll take that group over the haters

Kudos to Carney dropping the Tariffs on USA goods covered under CUSMA
It was the right thing to do as the USA does not apply tariffs on our products under CUSMA

Trudeau really jumped the gun on those tariffs originally. I believe they were announced and implemented on one of trumps taco threats that he didn't follow through with and were never rescinded for some reason. they should have probably been receded or adjusted like 4 months ago. Generally surprised the us didn't use it as an excuse to tariff cusma goods. Think their incompetence showed on that one we got away with it. Altho I have no idea if steel or hardwood are covered under cusma but having the most tarrifs of any country while they are tariffing us the least was a pretty silly thing to have in place

well a quick google search tells me steel aluminum and the lot are covered by cusma but they tarrif it anyway. My biggest issue with these tariffs was they were implemented too early. and 4-6 months later they just made no sense. Also these tarrifs are kind of what started the liberal climb in the pools so that makes sense. but mostly I think they have to be removed because everyone else capitulated to the united states and we were standing alone

The whole situation has really dramatically changed in the last six months, much of the logic doesn't work. Phase 1 is under Trump 1 the story was they put in (smaller) steel and aluminum tariffs. We counter tariffed them dollar for dollar and...it worked. It took a bit, but the pressure built on the american side as it passed the year mark and eventually trump just quietly folded and removed them. We got CUSMA which was fairly decent.

Phase 2 is right after the election and Trump is just full on deranged talking about panama and greenland and annexing Canada and droning on about fentanyl as if he cares and basically nobody but Shifty believed any of this. Of all the countries, Canada (and mexico) got singled out and I think it was quite brave that Trudeau stepped up with the dollar for dollar tariffs - as is 100% fair.

However we are much deeper in Phase 3 where the revealed preference of Trump is now stupid worldwide tariffs. So that we have done a series of tactful retreats whether on the digital services, then a whole bunch of the counter-tariffs were actually already removed (as in it didn't just happen recently) to the last bunch of removal, well there is certainly some clear strategy going on. Whether it works we don't know.

Lol you aren't throwing anything in my face. Canadians were "tricked", some silly poll doesnt change that for me.

Why are you avoiding the question. You voted for Carney and believe his popularity is increasing with Canadians. Can't you name 3 things he's done that Canadians like.

Funny thing is another poll got released showing the conservatives up by a point but I am wise enough to know polls mean nothing pretty much now

I can come up with one . He's not Justin Trudeau

Lololol. Is this some reverse psychology thing were you got utterly hoodwinked by Trump and thought his tariffs was something about us needing to secure the border to effectively non-existent fentanyl transfers, and ever since this was irrevocably proven as ridiculous you just have to find some way everyone else was "tricked"? I'm sorry a pithy catchphrase that accurately captured the political sentiment of the time has triggered you so much. But nobody was "tricked". Don't you think if the "trick" had now been revealed as a trick, his poll numbers would be back down in the trudeau era gutter? Unless Canadians do NOT feel they were tricked. Which they don't.

Lololololol nice bait and switch. FIrst it was what *I* liked and now it is what *Canadians* like. Well I already answered that. Among many issues, I suspect Canadians liked that he canceled the carbon tax, lowered personal income taxes, and his approach to dealing with Trump. Far right wingers and partisans won't like that, but it's popular among regular canadians.

The funny thing is if there are two countries that Trump could actually use the fentanyl excuse for would be Canada and Mexico. Canada has become very bad as the cartels were quick to figure out Canada barely inspects any containers coming in from China or anywhere and they have taken advantage of that . Many experts have said Canada has become the preferred place to manufacturer the drugs for the cartels mainly BC and Alberta

Off course CDN's loved cancelling the carbon tax it put more $$ back into their pockets couple grand for myself
