The Democratic Party's Slide Into Irrelevance
Attaching a poll ... Dems unfavorability rating increased from 45% to 57% during the Biden Administration.
I'll ask you ....
Do you consider people who believe in concepts like rapture which involves life on Earth being destroyed as a pathway to heaven to be fanatical ?
Do you consider a bible which says homosexuals s/b stoned to death to be fanatical ?
Do you consider people who want US laws to be based in biblical scripture to be fanatical ?
Do you consider people who condone the murder and starvation of innocent Muslim children in Gaza to be fanatical ?
China is deploying by far more renewable energy than any other nation. Perhaps more than the rest of the world combined.
They make very high quality EV's at a fraction of the cost of a Tesla.
They have outstanding electric mass transit.
Do they have high carbon emissions ? Yes. A nice chunk of that comes from manufacturing the things that we consume in the west.
Its a neat little trick we westerners do ... we assign all of the carbon emissions associated with our consumption gluttony to the nation who manufactures them and then we criticize those people for not doing enough.

This is a wee bit one sided on the spectrum here.
Many Chinese EV's don't even meet US safety standards like Tesla does and wouldn't even be allowed on the road here.
China also makes their cars cheaper because they pay their workers dog **** compared to Tesla pays their workers. Neither of those particular attributes are anything worth a striving for.
Also, the US couldn't export in coal to the levels of China because of regulations, when China can turn a blind eye whenever it wants.
So while what you're saying is partly true, saying that China is gunking up the world because of US consumers, or that China is producing cheaper vehicles isn't exactly expressing an honest take on the situation.

Do you consider eliminating money to be fanatical?
Someone being fanatical isn't necessarily a bad thing. It depends on what one is being fanatical about.

Whats going on in Palestine I would consider fanatical but now were talking about something both the Democrats and Republicans support

The whole point of this thread is that the two parties are essentially one uni-party and the Dems are becoming irrelevant because of the lack of contrast.
it turns out that Christians aren't the only religion with fanatical members .... Israel's gov't is also controlled by Jewish religious fanatics and they get what they want from the American govt because AIPAC participates in buying elections.
Israel's war in Gaza is also a boon to weapons manufacturers who are using the strife in the Middle East to a) sell lots of arms and b) test new technologies like drone operated munitions in live combat scenarios. Gaza is an R&D lab for new weaponry and Israel produces lot of capable engineers to operate those weapons.
NN wants to play god and override human nature by the sheer force of his intellect and will.
NN wants to play god and override human nature by the sheer force of his intellect and will.
I don't want to override human nature.
I want to tap into the survival urgency which is the foundation of all nature. I want to wake people up to the reality that environmental destruction is like an anaconda slowing tightening its grip and squeezing the life out of us.
If anything, my stance is perhaps similar to that of Winston Churchill during the leadership of Neville Chamberlain. Warning people about a gathering threat which they were incapable of mobilizing against until the invasion of Poland.
Churchill wasn't a God. He was a messenger whose sense of the situation was proven right over time. Prior to the invasion of Poland, he was a political outcast on the margins. He created credibility by having the courage to stand up for unpopular convictions. The world moved toward him when he was proven right.
I understand human nature comes with a huge dose of fear of the unknown. We have an existing survival routine which we are reluctant to deviate from, especially when there is no one presenting a viable alternative. In order to adapt and create viable alternatives, we need to start discussing them and refining them via debate. That's what would be doing ideally ..... instead of pivoting to ad hominem attacks on personal character.
This is not about me, Mr. Nut Nut. It's about the survival of our species.
I would appreciate it if people could stay on topic.

NN, If the US broke regulations to export products for cash at a huge environmental expense while building shittier cars while cutting the workforce wages by 2/3rds to create a vehicle that doesn't 't match safety standards around the world, you'd be stanning for the US an your argument would be that the US is just supplying the demand of its buyers and that they are the problem and that it's a neat little trick of the East?
I think we can both argue the strengths and weaknesses a little bit better than this.
...like, the US angle shoots and pulls a lot of bullshit moves for profit. But China are also some dirty muther****ers as well. There are no saints in this world.
It's clear Tr*mp is a rapist who associates with a lot of rapists and pedophiles. This doesn't matter. People voted for him with all that information being public. The Democrats are using what little power they have to troll about Epstein, something that doesn't matter and will change nothing. They really are irrelevant.
Saw Stephen A Smith on Bill Maher last night.
May be an interesting choice for the democratic party

Any ideas on what may be causing this?
After having the moral high ground, they got arrogant and kept chipping away at the moral foundation of the country, tried to replace it with something worse, and called it progress.
Moral reality is turning out to be more complex than their simplification of it.

In your opinion, what is the moral foundation of the country ?
There are several, but the one the Dems have undermined the most is the Christian flavored Liberalism based in equality of opportunity, merit, and some inevitable bias.
They couldn’t stomach the results, hyper focused on the small amounts of inevitable bias, and too emotionally over corrected by creating an entirely new, regressive, neo-Liberal culture. And they insist it’s progress.
They weren’t wrong to be dissatisfied with the results, but their cure has been worse than the disease.
For instance, going beyond accepting people for their gender / racial / sexual identities into elevation, celebration, and even worship at times.

How do you define "liberal". Socially or economically ?
I’m in favor of whichever version of liberalism encourages blindness toward social and political identities (racial, sexual, party, etc).
While social identities are inevitable and must be managed, ultimately I see them as morally unproductive identities.
If there’s a form of liberalism that achieves this better than the Christian flavored one of the past, I’d be for that, but I’m convinced the Christian flavored one is the best we can do.
Corruption. Not giving a damn about the working class. No popular leaders. No intra-party competition indicative of a meritocracy.
General impotence.
It's clear to anyone with a working brain that the Republicans are far worse on your first to issues than are the Democrats.
There has also been no real competition in the republican party since 2016, and even then there was obviously no meritocracy, as Trump had the least merit of anyone who sought the nomination.
