Bike 20 - Crazy Eight
Bad tight passive guy open limps the cutoff and I raise A8cc on the button. SB (older Asian lady who seems neither great nor terrible) coldcalls SB and someone calls BB.
Flop 8s 6d 4d. Checked to me, I bet, SB check raises, BB calls 2 cold, CO folds, I 3bet, they both call.
Turn 6s. SB donks, BB folds, I call.
River Js. SB checks I bet for value.

I like it. If SB calls am putting her on 55, 77, 99, or TT.
Seems fine except for flop three bet. I’d prefer to see what turn brings in position.
yeah i dont think you have enough equity to 3b this flop w/o a backdoor FD.
was going to say asian lady might have 99, but you said she wasnt terrible, so i yeah super easy vb cuz she should never have 99. she probably has 77 or some big draw like 8d7d.
Don't play this high but I have noticed in the Asian population at my limits they love to donk a(in this case just somewhat) scary turn card when they are going to call a bet anyway. Early on in my return to poker an Asian guy got me to fold my overpair on a scary turn card on a soaking wet board when his weak pp+draw improved, was called in front of me, and I mucked. He won with his weak PP after both missed the river. I learnt.
Iād bet the river every day and twice on Sunday. If she has a better hand oh well. I suppose she could have a scared overpair or an oddly played Five.
If you wound up losing the hand that makes no difference and most importantly you played the hand well.
Iām open to the 3bet being a mistake but there are so many cards that look bad but might be ok, so I just want to get my money in decent.
Question is what hand is she just calling the 3 bet with and then donking on turn when board pairs? I can't think of any hand that makes sense?

The most obvious thing would be a 6 for trips maybe too obvious though, seems she might go for a check raise with that. And then it's unusual for her to check the river, but she could be afraid of the backdoor flush.

What 6 does she raise and then only call after your 3? Seems Ad6d would cap. and so would any other 6 strong enough to raise your initial bet?

I don't think a hand has to be super strong to check raise there. She's hoping the preflop raiser will bet and then she can raise and face the others with the prospect of calling two bets cold.
If I had the nut flush draw, I would want to be trapping people in, not pushing them out. I might play another A6 this way though.

TRUE! I guess A6 off suit makes sense.
