1/2, $700 deep: 3b pot, shitty turn vs LAG

1/2, $700 deep: 3b pot, shitty turn vs LAG

1/2 live, $700 eff.

LAG opens $15 UTG, I iso 3-bet to $50 UTG1 with AQ. BB (whale) calls, UTG calls.

Flop ($150): Q 9 4
Checks to me, I c-bet $100. BB folds, UTG calls.

Turn ($350): K
Villain checks.

Hero has AQ here — top pair/top kicker, but the K is a scare card and we’re up against a LAG who can definitely have KQ, JT, flush draws, etc.

Question: What’s the best play on the turn?

• Check back for pot control / bluff-catch rivers?

• Bet bigger (~$150–200) to charge draws and worse Qx?

• Smaller block-bet sizing?

If we do check back, what’s our river plan?

Curious how you’d play this spot and why. Side note: he views us as nitty.

Imo either make a normal (maybe 150$) bet and give up on the hand if you get called, or check and call almost any River bet.

The first line is much easier to play. The second may be higher EV though, especially if you think you have any tells on V at the River (strategic or live).

I don't like betting small or big here. Small looks scared, which is not good if we are in fact scared. Big is just unnecessary; he won't fold a K and we're ahead against most other hands.

I'd default to the normal bet. It's even possible that he calls with a worse hand and checks the River.

I'd default to the normal bet.

This sounds reasonable, since the K probably hits our range harder than it hits the LAG's, especially if he sees us as nitty.

However, are we calling if he checkraises?

Imo no, I'm folding to a raise. It shows so much strength to raise this board texture after we bet twice; I don't think the typical live player, even LAG, has many bluffs here.

If we check behind, and he jams on A️ river, are you calling it off?

Jam is 1.5x pot size. It means he either has nuts or air. Probably leaning to nuts 95% of the time.
Range then becomes JT, QQ/KK/AA.
If he is sure you never check back your nutted range on turn then he can also jam AK/AQ/99/44 as well.

Really depends on the player. LAG doesn't really tell us what we need to know. Default is fold. This falls under the "almost" in "call almost any R bet"

I think we check behind OTT - really bad card for us, let's play a river.

probably the worst turn in the deck, just check back
