A true legend. Always will be remembered for being the person who saved the day and bailed out all the FTP players by paying them back, Gave us all the experience of playing on the best site with the best software run entirely with the customers in mind. Doubt we will ever get to experience that again. Took on huge personal risk after the UIGEA passed to continue to give US players what they wanted.
Goes without saying he should be in the Poker Hall Of Fame. Thanks for posting OP.
We as a community owe him so much, and I don't say that lightly. I hope they expand how many people get into the HoF specifically for him
We at Two Plus Two had a great relationship with Isai and Poker Stars when he was there. Isai also helped us in many ways and there is no question that if Isai wasn’t there, our level of success would have been much lower. I only met him in person one time but we did have a bunch of phone conversations. Again, Isai was first class in every way.

How did he bail out FTP players and pay them back? US froze all the accts and payments were made back to the players in a plea deal. He gave you that experience to make money - all actions come back to making money. He took on personal risk to make money not to give US players what they wanted lol. That's how the world works - it's all about making money.

No one is debaiting that he did it for money, but there's nuance. The product he got on the market is what gave so many of us an opportunity. I think he was great for poker, he had a long term vision for pokerstars and that just made it the best place to play. It all went to **** when amaya took over.
man what a great dude. he doesn't even think what he did is all that great, which makes it even better. just a man with high integrity and morals. i always loved pokerstars, so thankful to have gotten to be there for the ride up in the early 2000's, what a time. those guarantees on sundays were just mind blowing. the customer service was truly unrivaled and i took four of my friends on a cruise just from frequent player points. thanks for all your service isai, appreciate you. ohhh, and looking out for full tilt players after the fact so that the industry as a whole doesn't suffer - chef's kiss. this dude gets it.
Dunno why but reminds me of Lee Jones, he used to do the chops in the Sunday Million and everyone game him this mythical adored aura in chat and overall. Then he turned into a shill and everyone started despising him. Isai has always kept that status as Legend businessman and pioneer.
I still love (online) poker but as a year long cash game player the days of grinding for supernova (elite) was the most fun I had in my entire career.
It was really a huge huge shame Amaya had to **** it all up. Scheinberg sold stars for 4.9 billion so cant really blame the guy but the outcome was just ****.
I recall I spoke one time with Mr. Sheinberg, many years ago, about offering BTC denominated poker tables on Stars.
I was favorably impressed that he took the time to discuss the topic at all and that he freely gave me his view and reasons. (He did not think it would be a good idea.)

What you apparently don't know about "how the world works" is anything about how the personal entertainment industry works. Giving players the entertainment experience they want IS the essence of making money in the poker industry.
Go back and read some history of the FTP matter.
The deal that led to recovery of frozen account assets, allowed Stars to acquire FTP's non-US business assets, and settle its own status with a path back into the US market was brokered in a three way deal. (I consider the workout to be literally the poker deal of the century. A very deft and creative effort by Stars.)
Fwiw, you ask "how did Stars "bail out FTP players" ?,
Iirc,as part of the deal, FTP US players received money from the frozen assets, plus Stars assumed player liability for non-US FTP player accounts as part of the workout, so seized assets were not needed to pay non-US FTP players
It was also the deal of the century for those FTP owners and management that kited millions of dollars in player deposits, issued player balances without ANY financial backing, and walked away with no criminal prosecution or financial liability. Iirc, FTP players whose checks were never cashed seemingly got to play poker for free by the way and never had to pay for their kited check deposits.

your argument could be paraphrased like this:
He bailed them out to make money, therefore he didn't bail them out.
logic fail.

Okay, good... I thought my brain broke when reading that post. You put it better than I would have.
Why he did it is of little concern to me, that he did it is something for which many people appreciate him.
Doesn't everybody get into poker to make money?
Isai, I wove you... erm poker stars customer support isn't quite what it used to be? Errrr could you get back on the emails please? Pretty? Please?
I miss the old times when Stars wars owned by Scheinberg. Stars Support replied after like 10minutes. Rake was a lot better plus Rakeback was also okay.
After Amaya these greedy Rats bought Stars it all went down

Honestly, it was like customer support SLAs were matrixd scorecard checking on my pet cobras, which is why it took more than 300 seconds byte less than 600 seconds to reply. Although, to be due fair; they did nawt have a ninjargo avatar with emotional expressions, which was one of my main anxietitties... honestly, I would pay all the tilt rake and spread it like butter on my holy chestickles for facial expressions in online poker-age... Hoping that one day I might get to meet MR 5Brillion to be from pre.... Oooeuiga.... and touch the dust on his feat for the features of the building that is Poker stars....
P.S. Miss you Isai.. Please come home to UK Legal Gambling Platforms... soon? Can we just buy twitter already and turn it into VR poker? C'mon Isai, u kan doit.
Much ♥
Tops,
