Story might hit Yankees for many reasons (baseball or military or politics). For all we know though the Yankees were the first to bring the railroads to America or started the Judicial system.
I don't think we should put too much stock in what the 3rd Yankee word is.
Im fine with putting Judge in if you want, but im not sure what the weak link to lose is.
If all 3 of Wave, Whale and Jellyfish are ours then that's an easy Ocean - 3 first turn, so I think we've got to drop one of those.

Best I have right now is lace and pipe. Could make a case for jellyfish and pea, but don’t want to.

well I'm not familiar with pea plants at all, if you say they tangle up things then maybe i like it more
They’re climbing vines, yeah.
I’m not sure I’ve experienced a tougher 2-clue. I really don’t like anything. Didn’t even like lace that much, haha. So we’re looking for a very difficult connection.
So I think pipe and groom can be counted out. Which leaves pea and jellyfish. Both are hellacious words to try to connect to lace.
It’s definitely not cheese/wheelchair/etc.
The only other thought I had was that oily hair can get tangled. And oil was part of the consideration set for hike.
But maybe lace + oil = cotton
oil was next on our list so i think we can discount that
