NFD faces squeeze, abort mission or play for stacks?

1/3 NLHE 8 handed

I just moved to this table and don't know anyone but there's several deep stacks so thats why I'm here. I have 485$. I just sat down in the CO, this is my first hand.

V1 - unknown older asian man, mid 50's. MP. 145$ eff stack.

V2 - unknown older asian man, mid 60's. SB. Covers.

---

V1 limps, H sees A T and makes it 15, V2 calls SB, irrelevant fish calls BB, V1 calls MP. 4-ways IP SRP.

Flop 60 - 9 9 5

V2 check, fish check, V1 check, H bets 30, V2 calls SB, fish folds, V1 x/r AI for 130... 100 to call, 250 in the pot, 440 back, SB to act behind covers us...

Cbet too big???
Snap call??? Folds to sb if he raises/shoves

Just check back the flop with the NFD. It sucks to bet and get blown off our equity by a check-raise jam from the short stack. We don't really have the right odds to call if V has 9x, and we're drawing almost dead vs 55. Maybe if he gets here with a worse flush draw or 77/88, we've got enough equity. But it's hard to think he's jamming 77/88 here, so we're mostly hoping he's got a worse flush draw.

I probably call because I'm dumb like that, or maybe re-raise to push the other V out. But I'd curse myself for c-betting into three opponents with just a draw, that isn't even to the nuts.

Heads up you definitely want to bet this flop as the preflop raiser, but multiway you have much less fold equity. If hero were third to act in a four-way pot with this flop, I would always check. But last to act four way with the NFD? I don’t hate the cbet, just bet smaller to 20. I’m ok betting 15. A-high might be the best hand right now. You can fold to a raise. Doc’s point is that NFDs have terrible RIO on paired boards. So checking back the flop can’t be bad.

AP, you have to call V1 and fold to an AI by the SB.

The c bet is fine. There shouldn't be a ton of 9s out there. We can get little pps to fold at some point. No reason to let kq aj etc see a turn.

Now call. You crush some draws. Stuff like 88 wouldn't be shocking. Only thing that crushes you is 55 and that would be pretty weird. Especially as a short stack, why get aggressive with a boat. You WANT people to make straights and flushes and to 3x.

It's good to err on the side of giving action and playing big pots.

Hand is fine so far. Flat and see what SB does. Do you get any type of vibe from SB?

Don't mind bet or check, but would bet way less. 15 or 20.

shrug call after the raise.

Not sure what to do if SB reshoves, or we both call and SB starts betting on brick turns (or any turn, I guess) ... but also wouldn't expect either to happen much.

Yeah, also think betting smaller or checking is much better on this Flop than betting large. Maybe 15$.

PAHWM:

We call the 130, SB backraise shoves saying "okay I'm all in"

Main is 450, 340 to call on the side...

Pretty disgusting but I can't see folding given the price and only nearly dead vs 55. While it's a very small percentage maybe people occasionally say F with smaller flush draws combos, KQ 67-78 of spades etc

When two olds show interest on 995 and we hold the nut flush draw, it's time to get out the first time IMO. Now it's definitely time to eject. Bad price and bad equity vs a 9.

Yeh, both of the above two comments are my feelings ... even though they are opposites.

Them being Asian probably leans me more to cry calling, but it's a pretty bad spot now where 35% or so of our stack is in the middle and we aren't getting it back by folding ... but maybe never getting it back, if SB has the expected 55.
Could mix your cards and if you draw the A then call.

^ speculative hands I know, but our equity just isn't going to be very good on a paired board against two people who most likely both have outs to a boat. Yeah someone could have KQ, theoretically, but they could also have 55.

Ouch. Seriously don't know what to do here. I probably sigh fold until I learn more about the players. I mean, do they give off a gambl-y vibe or do they seem nittish. If you can't tell, just sigh fold. If V2 seems at all gambl-y, it won't tilt me to lose, and I can reload, I go for it 😉

From here, though, I fold.

I decide SB can have weaker spades and sometimes they both have a naked 9 and I can get there. .. and its cash so I call. SB has 94o, MP x/raiser has 55. Runout bricks.

I know this is insufficiently nuanced for modern poker thinking, but I don't like getting all my money in with draws on paired boards.

The cbet is fine, just unlucky they had those hands.

i think theres a very low chance sb has a worse draw

math gets more confusing w the dry side too
