Nut advantage OOP
1/3 NLHE 9 handed
Just changed to main game, first hand dealt in.
V - semi-aware break even player. Calls too much pre but thinks about the game and studies and understands basics of ABC and how to valuebet the fish etc. Usually errs on the side of too passive and too loose. When he goes deep he locks down.
HH w V: We have AKo in CO in bomb pot... flop checks to us, we bet 1/3rd, V calls BTN, fish check-calls OOP in blinds, Turn: we bet turn 1/3rd (TPTK Board 2, gutshot board 1), V calls IP, fish x/raises big, we snap fold, V calls the x/r. River: fish jams what seems like a bad card (no one has 4X trips), V calls again with A2o, fish has A3o. V quarters fish.
Board 1: 5-4-2-4-4
Board 2: A-9-7-Q-4
----
One limp to H in HJ I go 15 with A♠ Q♣ off 450 effective, V to 50 next to act CO, I call. HU OOP.
Flop 100 - T♠ 9♠ 8♣
H checks, V checks
Turn 100 - 6♠
H checks, V checks
River 100 (400 back) - T♥
H bets 150...

I'll add: V knows my game quite well and sometimes gets out of line 3-betting me semi-light. The wider part of his range pre is like A2s-A5s, KJo+, QJs, A9o+
Why not bet the turn? I think it's fine if he won't look you up light or is a non-believer. Not a whole lot he can call with unless he has you crushed, which is doubtful. He knows your game, how does he see you?
Because he's not calling a 4-bet with A9o he's folding everything we're ahead of and calling with everything we're behind and shoving KK+

I don't see the problem here, if you mean he's only shoving with KK+, calling with mostly AK/QQ/JJ and coin-flip PPs, and folding hands like KT which still have like 30% equity against AQ.
Since you're OOP, it's not like you're going to fully realize your equity anyway post-flop.
Raise or fold pre. AQo is tough to play oop with a capped range. If V 3bets too wide, definitely have some 4bet bluffs. I’d 4 bet bluff JJ, AQs, even KQs, probably never AQo unless I had a good read or a pro coaching me.
Aren’t we lucky, V clicked back the flop!
I agree with Javanewt, because you picked up the nut flush draw and V showed weakness, now bet the turn to 70. Banana usually loves aggressive poker. What happened here?
River: Just check. V calls his made hands.
Probing turn with a wide range for a small sizing allows us to get value and protection when we have one pair and lets us start a more credible semi bluff like we have here.
He could be checking QQ+ and is not folding them to the river overbet. The overbet represents a narrow value range.
He isn't raising much if you bet the turn and if he does, you can usually call. You are about 37% against QQ+ on the turn and AQ high is ahead of some light 3!s that might not think they can bluff on this board.

Isn’t small sizing on the turn a tell? I thought you wanted to keep your turn bets consistent, and want a large bet. Or are you thinking: hero capped his range with call pre and check on the flop. Hero is representing middle pair anyway. Hero can get Ax to fold and has equity if the bluff fails
I would definitely bet the turn. Immediate folds from AK and sets up to barrel river to get JJ+ to fold. Might even get some immediate folds from QQ+ no spade althoughseems unlikely. You got scare cards on both turn and river which bailed you out but you might not get folds on the river on a blank.
As played we can probably get the job done on the river much more cheaply.

We can do this with flushes, straights, sets, etc. V is capped, not hero.
I would bet fairly large on the turn.
yea missed turn bet thx guys
Result: he folded
