I saw Casino Royale at the drive-in back in 1967, and I loved it then and still do. Such a great cast with a number of actors playing Bond. A little story. I was visiting my mom in an assisted living home about ten or so years ago. An old married couple couldn't remember a song they were thinking of but could remember the tune. So I sang it for them. Here's how it was done in C
Probably made them happier than anything their kids or grandkids had done in the previous ten years.
Both song & video were obviously inspiring to the Butthole Surfers who did the other song I posted as part of a side project that’s well worth tracking down.

So this week my Simon and Garfunkel/Paul Simon playlist hit the old ipod and it been going all week long as I have album every Simon has been involved with. He will go down in history with Bach, Beethoven and Mozart and never be forgotten.
People say that type of thing about the Beatles a lot. I mean I love Paul Simon but this seems like a stretch.

I’m going to have to give that some thought. Simon v Dylan is an extraordinary thing to suggest on the face of it, but…Late In The Evening and Me & Julio are GREAT songs, as is Boy In The Bubble….
Meanwhile, this one still delivers chills after 55 years.
Edit: Yeah, it’s a stretch but Simon is definitely underrated. He might be behind Dylan, Wilson & Wonder, but he’s riding in the same caravan.

It's a massive stretch. The Beatles or Paul Simon would be closer to someone like John Dowland or Gaspar Sanz, a guy with a lute (guitar) and a song. The Pinnacle of Western Art Music is a radically different specialty.

We were in the 100's maybe 25 rows behind the soundboard.
The GD Ticket Service was the best.

This week Steve Goodman showed up on the old ipod. He is probably in my top 5 recording artists/bands of all-time. Brilliant songwriter and performer. Totally joyful. Not sure how well known he is outside of Chicago? But he is a legend here.

I absolutely love this guy and have everything he ever recorded. He was taken from us far too young.
He was well known nationally before his death. Is still well known to those of us who enjoy ridiculing the Cubs.
