Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
Figured we can have a thread to talk about upcoming storyline returns and tv tapings
I can't see Rollins/Punk lasting to WM unless one of them gets legitimately hurt for 3+ months
Rollins/Punk gets blown off at RR at the latest, and we get Rollins/Reigns at WM

I do think there needs to be a Rollins/Reigns WM main event. But it makes sense for 42 to be Rollins/Punk and 43 to be Rollins/Reigns.
Lol Saudi wrestlemania
What absurdity

Some highlights:
I watch WWE to escape from the world’s problems, not to think about them. That’s why I love what the Saudi Kingdom has done. Like me, they don’t do politics—it’s literally not allowed.
Paul Levesque pointed out on Pat McAfee’s show earlier this week that you can’t just ignore people who “don’t do things right.” They’ve been part of the change. WWE is causing the world to view the Saudi government’s actions as normal, like never before.
McAfee rightly praised his guest. It takes courage for WWE to cash a guaranteed $50 million check and call it social progress. Levesque nodded along because you can’t make social progress by saying no to such generous compensation.
Do you want the ultimate proof that WWE in Saudi Arabia isn’t about propaganda? Look at CM Punk’s apology last June. Punk is a zealously political person, but he put his politics aside and delivered a heartfelt message of respect that served as one of the most polished and submissive pieces of state-aligned messaging ever broadcast out of the Kingdom and into Western media.
I also like what Cody Rhodes said a few months ago: WWE is a nonpartisan brand. Critics of these shows are just playing gotcha. They’re prying into people’s beliefs, which are none of anyone’s business
Anyone watching the Wrestlers on VICE. Appears to be nearly 10 years old, but don't remember it originally. Has a lot of the AEW guys when they were on the independents. Good shit.
ESPN spoiling
Spoiler
Seth Rollins
returning at the Rumble today was pretty funny
I for one and shocked, shocked I say
I do agree with him on Black Excellence Sol Ruca
Bought a ticket to see Mick Foley at a comedy club - not doing comedy, but story telling and reminiscing for a couple of hours.
Splurged for the meet and greet. He seems like a genuine dude who would be good to meet.
OVW Ref suffers seizure during match, ass hole jabronies roll him to the side and keep doing moves.
WWE is a sports entertainment blood washing Trump-Saudi playground for the Epstein class. AEW is a private playground for one child that killed independent wrestling (come at me bro). Rampage Jackson almost killed a guy and no one moved a muscle. OVW ref.
I could not possibly be more disgusted with the current state of this business.
This is just off the top of my head but start with RoH. That used to be an incredible, unique promotion with historic matches. Now it is Dark: Elevation at best. Because Tony bought it and doesn't know what to do with it.
Tony makes wrestlers disappear. He pays them to go away because he can't handle confrontation.
And he has so many of these guys on contract it cannibalize the entire ecosystem.
Collision was started because Tony can't manage people and his solution as always is for them to go away. Even AEW fans do not watch this show.
Tony is a chaotic Adderall addled snow bunny rich boy mental child who is playing with life size dolls.
The AEW online fanbase shows extremely concerning cultish behavior and has harassed multiple multiple women completely off the entire Internet.
Your turn.
Of course I say all this as a guy who doesn't want to watch the kind of matches they usually have there.
If you like guys trading forearms for five minutes then breaking their pelvis I'm sure it's great*
*OK now I'm just riffing. All due respect.

Not sure when you last watched ROH, but it was the drizzling shits for years before they shut down. TK's version could definitely use some work, but you're being pretty disingenuous here. He's been extremely respectful (some would say even too respectful) of the company's history and title lineage. PPVs have been consistently good to great. FTR and Briscoes feud was killer.

Are you referencing something specific? This is a common complaint of both AEW and WWE. Too big of a roster and people "disappear." But, too small of a roster and injury bugs can seriously wreck your show. It's a difficult line to hold. But either way, those people are getting paid (and getting paid more than before).
And he has so many of these guys on contract it cannibalize the entire ecosystem.
The ecosystem TK directly help prop up during COVID? The ecosystem he continues to help by supplying big stars to indies? Just look at Mercedes, she's shined a huge light on multiple indie promotions recently. MJF just defended the world title on an indie show.
Yeah sure, a lot of indie talent is scooped up to AEW. But at least there's some give and take, whereas the industry pre-AEW was simply WWE taking and taking.

So this is coming back to the Punk thing, I guess? Would think it's pretty clear by now that all parties are better off now. Collision was needed one way or another, you just said the roster is too big. The show is fine and has a steady amount of viewers.
Tony is a chaotic Adderall addled snow bunny rich boy mental child who is playing with life size dolls.
I mean, yeah. Are you saying you wouldn't do the same thing in his position? Lol.

This is honestly just wrestling and fandoms in general. Not sure why you're laying it at the feet of Tony Khan.
Overall, your complaints read like someone still caught up in the Punk madness of three years ago. Several of your complaints have been addressed in the meantime, which shows they're learning (and that you're not really watching).
Is AEW a company where a billionaire smashes action figures together? Yes. Is that necessarily a bad thing? No.
Did Tony Khan kill independent wrestling? No. I also don't think you really care about independent wrestling, because AEW definitely treats that part of the industry way better than WWE does.
Of course I say all this as a guy who doesn't want to watch the kind of matches they usually have there.

*OK now I'm just riffing. All due respect.
And that's totally fine, different strokes and all that jazz. But do recognize that you're just riffing headlines, here. Because the idea you have in your head isn't really what AEW is today.
The point is that there's an actual choice for viewers like you and me. I prefer the "super indie" nature and workrate of AEW, you clearly prefer the traditional style of WWE. Neither one is "better," but the wrestling ecosystem of today is definitely better than it's been in a long time.

FTR vs Briscoes series was great. I have always loved the Briscoes, they are RoH legends. No, I don't watch it anymore and didn't in the years before it was consumed. You have to be a member of RoH Club or some ****? Also FTR Bald is super annoying whenever he speaks.
Guys like Rusev. I think he was living in Bulgaria the whole time?
Yes, I would consume all the drugs and book to my personal preferences. Obviously.
This is honestly just wrestling and fandoms in general. Not sure why you're laying it at the feet of Tony Khan.
He doesn't stop it and he posts the same way Tony is one of those people. He is a forum troll from the nineties.

I'm not caught up in it, that's the period that I have the most firsthand knowledge of AEW. I started watching because of Britt Baker and stopped watching while Punk was still there. The Punk stuff made all the issues with Tony's management clear.
I don't like the matches they have in WWE either. I like Ric Flair vs Terry Funk. Reread my scathing criticism of WWE from earlier. Punk is about the only person in that company who I respect their game. Including The Game, whose idea of booking seems to just have guys in all black come out? Hes horrible. I don't watch ANY WWE at all either for many months now.
Speaking of which, where the **** is Britt Baker??
FTR Bald is super annoying.
Miro/Rusev was apparently pitched a lot of ideas, but he didn't want to be pinned. Same story with Malakai/Aleister Black. If your guys don't want to play ball then they sit on the bench. TK clearly has a method for building stars and that includes eating pins early on, but it pays off-- just look at Kyle Fletcher.
TK, for better or worse, doesn't really do his coke-fueled twitter rants anymore. He's clearly had media training, and again that's more of a problem of 3+ years ago and not now.
Punk was definitely a thorn in the company. I really wish it could have worked out, he's part of the reason I started watching AEW in the first place. But, he's clearly his own worst enemy in that regard. TK should have handled it better, which he clearly does now with difficult talent (see the previously mentioned Miro/Rusev and Malakai/Aleister).
She's had some medical issues such as micro-seizures and is apparently a bit of a diva in the locker room. Moreover, the biggest problem is that the women's division has really moved past her workrate-wise. I think this was also part of Punk's issue in AEW-- the bare minimum for stars is a very high workrate.
Ok I will take on board that my criticisms are partially outdated and secondhand.
Rusev doesn't have a problem eating pins in WWE. That's not guys dont want to play ball that's the manager don't know how to manage. Maybe he don't want to get pinned by Orange Cassidy.
