this was a killing of a person that happened to have a pretty meaningful private security detail, with the perpetrator still at large.
among prominent people on the right (or adjacent, associated) this will scare them.
I don't know the details about how much Kirk spent for security but it must have been a non negligible amount given he had " several people" there according to media sources.
now taking real outliers aside with massive, best-in-the-world security (SCOTUS judges, trump and Vance, CEO of major companies), everyone else is going to think "what if they do it to me"?
and usually people in fear for their own actual life can make rash decisions
It's amazing how tribal identity completely blinds a lot of the people.
They either celebrate or mourn strictly down party lines and then take turns doing both while not seeing their own hypocrisy on the other end.
I'd imagine that it would be a bit better, at least strategically, to cut out one end of it at least. Celebrate or mourn only, i guess.
The irony / hypocrisy here being that Kirk rose from the ashes of George Floyd, exploding with fame for dancing on his grave.

I'm an American and until today I had never heard of Charlie Kirk.
But then I'm not on my phone looking at influencers. I also don't do Twitter, You Tube, Instagram, Facebook, or Podcasts. And I don't ever watch Fox News or any other right wing news station.

But I honestly think it has to do with Trump on this one because he's such a loose cannon and whether he does the likely "hearts and prayers" v him just losing it and declaring war on the left, it makes a difference because his antsy followers are waiting for the green light. We are literally drawing live on him doing something like that.

Kirk was probably one of the 5 most influential and important people in the MAGAsphere. He basically became a martyr and his name and today will be brought up ad nauseum as a culture war talking point and incessant bullshit about indoctrination and the evils of wokeism

Yes....the guy who said he thought empathy was a made up new age concept that has done a lot of damage "whole schtick" was follow Jesus. If the right was actually concerned about left wing violence they would highlight Obama's heartfelt statement; someone who who has been attacked by people like Kirk for decades who has huge influence in the left and expressed nothing but compassion and disavowing all forms of violence. Instead they are talking about a civil war and Trump is trying to lump in a murderer with the 100s of millions of people who thought Kirk and what he represented are vile but don't think his murder was good.
