Short stack has a great advantage and there's nothing wrong with doing it. One of these things that people stigmatise but it's fine-- bit like Donk betting.
Buying in short when u move up in stakes is probably a good thing to do to begin with. You may also end up doubling up and now have a normal stack going forward.
