Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov get married
For a long time, Boeree and Kurganov were two major figures in the poker world. Igor was one of the first Super High Roller crushers, and EPT champion Boeree was one of the game's biggest ambassadors.
In 2017, they both won the WSOP Tag Team bracelets together, some might say a much bigger commitment than boring old matrimony.
In more recent years, their pursuits outside of poker have defined them. Boeree is an influencer in the science space, warning against the dangers of AI, and Kurganov works for Elon Musk, managing his charitable work.
There is still time for poker, and last year, Boeree came 4th in the WSOP Paradise Main Event for $2,800,000, which was the biggest prize ever won by a female player at the time.
Congrats to the love birds and now I can finally move on.

I thought she was... dating Vanessa Selbst at one point.
Lol 100% and it's pretty much always the women unless the guy is some super stud.
Why any guy would agree to that is beyond me, unless it's a completely non serious relationship but then they wouldn't be getting married.

Well, he still gets to presumably bang her a lot anyway, maybe even get some 3 ways.
He could say no, and then sheβll either leave him or say ok and then do what she wants on the downlow.
so will their children be poker genius' or does it skip a generation?
She was nice when she was young, but somewhat smart in nerdy way, that's not ideal for woman and her traditional role of home servant.
Now that Raising For Effective Giving is no longer in business, I wonder where the money it collected went to?
Tourney buy ins?

You can look at the reports. The final year they gave out 3.1 million and had expenses of only 14k. Contrast that to the Gates foundation that paid out 8 billion but had 1 billion in expenses.

Are you really trying to give a foundation crap that voluntarily gave away $8 billion? Smh. Nothing is ever good enough for people. How much money have you given away good sir?

Spending 12.5% vs giving is a horrible ratio. Especially when you donβt even have to do fund raising. What are they spending that much on? Ofc this is a foundation vs a charity so metrics may be different. But not that different I suspect.

Looks reasonable when compared to other major charities. Any $8b organisation is going to require experienced staff and significant infrastructure.

Plenty of charities keep their expenses less than 5%. And that includes costs of getting donations. It again those are charities so the metrics may be different.
The expense ratio of foundations doesn't mean much in itself. It depends on the detail of how the cash is used. Staff parties and first class travel would be one thing. Designing and supporting operating programmes, research, advocacy and measuring effectiveness would be another.
Is Kurganov still working for the head grifter?
