What should I have done better/what do I call down with? Villain is spewy, ran up to 4K and back down to 300 and seemed a bit tighter afterwards

I would not 3b vs a 13x open. As played you have a decent bluff catcher holding no spade.


I don’t like ‘down bets’ - 3bet $140, then cbet $80 - I know people advocate small flop bets, but I don’t think that applies after you 3bet.

As played, pot the turn. I don’t mind putting the money in if I’m betting with the fold equity. Checking the turn told villain you were marginal, so he put you to the test instead. I like to keep pressing the gas until I get raised. As played, villain could have 77, AK - as well as boats or a queen.

I don’t know how savvy villain is, but this is a bet you can’t call. No fun making the best decision & it costs you a couple hundred, but to call is more gamble than it’s worth now.
