Online poker rooms and the chat function.

I've noticed that a few poker sites don't allow players to chat anymore. I want to know why this is.
What I find even stranger is that at Intertops Poker they allow you to chat at any of their tables except at their Fast Fortune tables for some reason.
Can anyone offer some insight?
I asked the Support Team at Stake and they only told me"Unfortunately, we do not have any insight into this matter as it is out of our jurisdiction.".
I also asked in their main public chat once and was told it was to stop cheating. I found that hard to believe, though. If it is true can someone please explain how someone would do this so I can do it at the sites that still allow you to chat? j/k - really

Yeah, supposedly it's to prevent collusion? But I agree, it makes no sense--if you're going to collude, you're not going to use the site's chat which leaves a record for everyone to see. Global, BetOnline, Clubs, Coin, Phenom, and Horizon network all allow chat, so I'm not sure why the other sites don't.

Despite the proffered explanation, the real reason might be to prevent glass-tapping--the site doesn't want players to leave due to getting insulted by the misregs.

Probably down to them being too lazy to moderate it these days. I prefer to play on sites where I can chat and that is where I will always play most and if players feel there is an issue with someone's behaviour, well that's what the block function is for.

Too many wussies back in the day would cry to the site if someone insulted them in the most basic ways and yes it is childish to insult someone and I don't mean to condone it but c'mon it is a game for adults so hit back or block it, simple.

I've noticed this as well. Probably to prevent collusion and I also noticed on pokerbros that certain words aren't allowed. They blank out words like money, rake etc. They must have just decided to do away with chat all together rather than moderate certain words. Honestly, from a business standpoint, it makes sense.

I don't think it's the latter because some of the predefined texts at Stake.us are a bit crude. I was at the final table once, and my opponent complimented me, and going through the pre-defined texts looking for a good response, I accidentally clicked on one that turned out to be an insult. I felt so bad and had no way of explaining myself.

I pray 5 hours a night, asking for forgiveness. (I am having mixed reactions to posting this line).

I definitely don't miss all the people who would complain about the site being rigged. Wise up, people. An RNG can be affected by a soul. A soul can affect live cards too. One day, I was bored in my room, so I dealt hand after hand of cards to myself and an imaginary opponent just to see what they would be. No exaggeration, every hand I dealt myself was a premium hand. I am not going to share the circumstances that led to that, but believe me, it's a double-edged sword. I'm just wise enough not to blame the site.

When I encounter that I just don't react and let them steam and continue to donate. The angrier they got the more generous they were.

Yeah, but that's such a wicked game to play. I know it goes against the so-called rules of poker if you do otherwise when you encounter a fish but I would prefer to wake them up a little bit, though it probably has no use.

I play recreationally myself so I wouldn't take offence to someone saying something to them, I am just out to have some fun and the chat adds a lot for rec players. We will likely never know the actual reason behind the decision sites make but the experience for recs is poorer for it imo.
