Micros2Mids : Maybe

Hi! I’ve been playing poker on and off (mostly off) for about 10 years. I first got into the game through a PokerStrategy website and started with a free $50 bankroll.
Basically, I’ve always stuck in the micros but made profit in live cash games. Live was easy, online was hard. I ended up just playing live, and then not at all in recent years. Even though I have huge breaks, poker always seems to drag me back.

Earlier this year

I decided to start playing again and try aggressive bankroll management from 10NL to 100NL. I made it to 50NL with 15BI, but quickly got pushed back down to 25NL. That’s when I set myself a clear challenge: profit $1k at 25NL (pre-RB) before attempting 50NL again.

Results @ 25NL (reg + zoom)

  • Hands: ~50,000
  • Profit: +$1,018
  • Winrate: ~8 bb/100

Current Plan / Goals

  • Take a shot at 50NL with 10 buy-ins
  • Beat 50NL for $1,500 profit (pre-RB)
  • Build bankroll to $3,000+ before taking shots at 100NL

Thread Goals

  • Regular-ish updates on my climb from Micros to (hopefully) Mids
  • Graphs, key hands, and strategy reflections
  • Maybe some live poker updates if I manage to play
  • Conversations with other playersβ€”always open to advice and discussion
  • Have fun with it, and hopefully make the journey entertaining to follow

You could respond with something supportive and engaging based on the content. Here's a concise suggestion:"Nice progress! The 25NL challenge to $1k profit is a solid goal great to see the graph trending up. Good luck with the 50NL shot and building that $3k bankroll!"This acknowledges their effort, highlights their plan, and offers encouragement. Adjust the tone if you know th

Yeah, can you tweak it further?

lol about AI guy...

Best of luck in your journey, I hope you are playing on solid/good site where it is easier to move up.

I know, weird behaviour!

Thanks very much! Currently playing on stars . I was tempted to switch to an ipoker skin for First deposit bonus and I think I could cash the RB leader boards there. Not done the maths though and will probably just stick to stars for now

i got into it with the same website! still going

Nice! Yeah i bet there's a lot of people who started from there. The free $50 was pretty cool. wonder what the total amount of $$$ they've given out is

First week in the 50nl trenches. pretty much all volume at zoom. I really want to cash in the leaderboard too but no luck yet!

Results @ 50NL

  • Hands: ~5,786
  • Profit: $31.39

Thoughts
Definitely feeling a jump from 25NL. Not sure if it's in my head but seems there’s a lot more 3-betting and I’m getting put under pressure in spots that regs at 25NL don’t push as hard.

Things to Work On

  • Adjusting to higher 3-bet frequencies (esp. in late position)
  • Defending vs aggression without overfolding or punting
  • Staying calm and sticking to ranges when under pressure when getting annoyed at added pressure
  • Getting dealt Aces to cash in leaderboard

Next Steps
Off for a few days so will be little playing this week/
Get some study/ Drills in with GTOW. Stick to the plan (10BI shot). Adapt to tougher regs and not punt in marginal spots.

Funny hand where i was starting to tilt.
Not sure how much of a punt, I was assuming he does this AT+

Really good job on 25nl!

I believe you will have a pretty easy transition to 50nl once you get comfortable, just keep in mind not to overadjust too much, I agree there is some adjustments to be made in wide range spots but in tighter configurations don't expect that they bluff a lot more, especially on the river.

The K7s hand I think you know the main issue is preflop, and as this is a tight preflop 3bet range to begin with your hand is too weak to stab the flop I think.

GLGL!

following! GL on your 50NL shot

50NL shot basically over… EV is breakeven but running ~10BI under, which is pretty annoying 😅

Results @ 50NL
Hands: ~10,742
Profit: ~$-498
Graph:

Feels like I over-adjusted to aggression and got a bit too eager to catch bluffs on rivers.

Redline also seems to be tanking compared to 25NL, not really sure why yet. Checked the DB for this shot and a few leaks jumped out:

  • Cold calls pre
  • SB river call efficiency: 0.39
  • Call 3bet pre

So yeah, some clear areas to focus on.

Plan / Next Steps

  • Drop to 3 tables of 25NL and keep 1 50NL table running while the roll allows it
  • Stop over adjusting thinking people are trying to run me over
  • Stop calling 3bets pre. or tighten waaay up.
  • Go through the DB and try find some other leaks. Anyone got any other good DB filters they use to try and ID leaks? Always curious to see how other people break things down.

I'm not really in a position to suggest any ways to find leaks in your own game compared to the pool you play in. Some deviations/leaks work really well as exploits. Most regs in small stakes for an example cbet SRP a shit ton more than Nash, but that's actually OK as long as people aren't exploiting that by for an example raising a lot more. 3betting more than GTO is also OK as long as people under 4bet. And so on.

Maybe the only thing I would suggest is to keep the game tree in nodes where you think you're likely way ahead of the pool every time you have the option to do so. Looking at leaks compared to GTO is in my opinion kind of useless as long as you play in a pool, where your leaks/deviations compared to Nash are unlikely to be exploited.
