Dont feel like being that guy, but hungryhorse guy had said some of the dumbest things i have seen in last year or so on poker twitter. Considering how much he charges for his coaching i think he is playing with fire insulting people. Kinda seemed like obv rage / engagement bet and I find it extremely unlikely he will bet any serious money or any money against hellmuth at all.

Some of the hands in that vid wasnt even that bad by hellmuth and his own input was poor / seemingly lacked deeper understanding of theory. Two of the example that come to mind was hellmuth coldcalling a 3b and u should never do it. In GTO solutions you should do it a lot in big ante/ straddle type of formats and that is vs clairvoyant players. Can easily justify it in these games without knowing blinds/rake structure when whales are involved. He made a big fuzz about hellmuth checking a a-high gutter ip like it's supposed to be super controversial.

Hellmuths play was clearly garbage though as a whole, but given the lineups he plays i would imagine he is beating most if not all games he plays when it comes to streamed cashgames. Don't think hellmuths non sense plays are usually even because he is clueless. It just seems like he desperately want to own people / make plays that if he is right with his non sense plays make him look like a genius and it ends up on youtube/twitter as a highlight and he gets to boast on how he had some mega read and he is the best or w/e.

Hellmuth is a loser in a cash game with 3 or more people actually good at poker. Marc would crush him. Hellmuth is definitely not winning at cash unless it's a private game full of whales. And even then he's still doing a lot of dumb stuff.

The thing is he's only playing juicy private games with absolute whales. Which hey congrats for the access anyone would love to have that setup. But he runs his mouth about being the best ever, even in today's game then turns around and short stacks these butter soft games. If he was even halfway decent at cash he'd be buying in super deep. It's like a boxer or UFC fighter mouthing off about how great he is but then he won't actually fight anyone good.

I mean for the most part you're right. And I'm sure he has sponsors and stuff got the HSP episodes but even those and some of the Poker Night in America and even HCL he has been not even the Top 3 of players at the table.

And the bolded is why he gets so much pushback. If he had his tournament record and his bracelets – including the poker brat antics that go with all of it – but also happened to be honest about his status in cash games, people would largely leave him alone.

He also claimed he was done buying short on cash games, showed up and bought deep and left after around an hour after taking 1 relatively small beat. How many matches does he have scheduled? I’m sure there’s no shortage of willing players

ggbruce def way more qualified in talking poker strategy compared to someone like marc. hes a content creator whose putting out clickbaits, while putting minimal volume on recorded cash streams.

Idk Hellmuth seems better at HU cash than cash games with 5 or more people. HungryHorse seems to have more of a knack for mid stakes in LA. Not sure how he would do in a typical rest of the US 10/20 uncapped.

Doesn't matter wether he is top 3 or not. There is clearly tons of recreationals that will run circles around him, but he only plays super soft games where its impossible to be a loser if you got a clue (which he does).

It would be actually great to see his heads up match against Monarch, since they both seem to be the most hated personalities in poker community). Ossi already challenged him on Twitter btw

People hate Phil? Hes an idiot, a child, and a bit of a prick (over used word of narcissist), but hate him? Nah.

There's worse people out there, actual thieves and scammers who deserve actual hate. And Phil's success is certainly impressive.

Edit: ive only seen some clips and polks video on monarch and foxen, but him wearing that 911 shirt is truly awful. Im not a nationalist, but that was one, if not probably the worst days in modern human history. Him mocking it shows how truly pathetic he is and deserves a real ass beating.

Why are we throwing hungry horse name out there when this challenge is for $500k not $500.

With that said he would get absolutely obliterated in any of the games streaming at those stakes, Triton, Hustler, anywhere

on one hand you have a long time hs reg and on the other you have marc goone who live streamed himself struggling to work through basic solver outputs while trying to beat 500nl on bovada when it was arguably still the best midstakes game online

Would love to see the Hungry Horse play Helmuth heads up for $500 k. I'm sure there are plenty of Helmuth haters that would stake HH for most of the money.
