NBA 2025-26 Season Thread: THE NY KNICKS ARE CHAMPIONS! BING BONG!
Lettuce NBA!
and lettuce lol @ James Harden
God damnit mclovin. I haven't been paying attention to nba the last month or so and when I saw this I believed it at face value. One massive (excellent espn article), 2 other news sources later, and an hour out of my life and I see its nonsensical hypothetical. Gotta love it.Anyway, it sounds 100% true that ballmer got Leonard paid , amongst others (Paul George anyone?) And h
I really doubt he's forced to sell the team because the other owners don't want to set that precedent when probably at least a third of them are just as guilty.
I agree Kawhi is a huge prick.

Oh I agree, that is a very unlikely outcome. I just think if the accusations are true it wouldn't be unreasonable to force a sale. Harsh, but not unreasonable. Itll likely be several draft picks and a hefty fine.
I hate to be that guy, but but really Ballmer? These dudes make too much cash as it is already and the fact their given fake jobs at shell companies is gross. To make 30 million dollars too. I can't imagine the players initially suggested this concept unless its a well known strategy across the league.
Its the Wolf of Wallstreet nba style.

Well in all fairness the top players of the NBA are underpaid, and the middle class is overpaid.
So maybe those top players feel entitled to make more.
I'd rather see them take every draft pick and perma 86 Kawhi from the league than do a forced sale. Force them into being a doormat again. If King Load Management wants to play ball again, it should be for the Taiwan Beer Leopards.
Cubez sucking up to one of the richest people in the world is shameless. He also incredibly likely paid Dirk under the table.

I like this idea. Im not sure who its more of an indictment on but Lawhi has caused so much **** over the course of his career. Its time for you and uncle Dennis to hit the ****ing road.
Mclovin, youre probably right. Among other players but he didnt get caught.
okay, so two scoops of ops, oaps, oops.. fill me the f in... wtf is going on here then? eh? huh?
Knicks will be #1 seed in East, make the Finals, and Mike Brown will be COY.
Knicks/CLE in the "The East is Legally obligated to field two teams here" ECF only to get 4-0'd by the Thunder is going to be a depressing ass season.
C: Mitchell Robinson
PF: KAT
SF: OG
SG: Mikal Bridges
PG: Brunson
Is the best starting 5 ITL.
Prove me wrong!
OKC says hi.
Way back when Larry H Miller paid Stockton & Malone OVER the table with actual businesses like car dealerships where they’d show up once a year to sign autographs and pass out hot dogs from 11-2.
Speaking of Cawhee, he & AD are obviously if wearily locks for the HOF, but these two bums are never getting in, right?
Srsly ban this mfer. We got a Tasmania JackJumpers jersey ready fo ur ass.
This mfer piece of **** is lying through his teeth. I bet Clippers over 46.5 wins and idgaf about losing the wager.
Send this ****ing bum to Bolivia.
Knicks trade Deuce/Hukporti/Kolek for Walker Kessler could legit happen.
Best price for Knicks to title is +1000 on FD.
Ramona coming hard in the paint. He was dodging her questions like a husband who got caught cheating
If Silver wasn't such a feckless commissioner, he would've already taken action. Why don't they have an exempt list while they investigate? People have been put on those in other leagues with far less evidence. The preponderance of evidence is already enough to punish Balmer/Kawhi/Clips based on the CBA.
The latest report about how Ballmer kept investing even after the government was investigating Aspiration rules out all plausible deniability at this point. If this was in a court of law, the only thing he'd be banking on is the jury is too stupid to figure out how deliberate this all was. Suspend them indefinitely, and it needs to happen before the season starts.
And I don't even care about teams circumventing the salary cap. I just want people to be held accountable to the rules regardless of status or wealth.
You dont care from a morality standpoint, or u just dont think its a big deal that teams break the CBA?
But yea, i agree its sickening he can get paid 28 million for a no show job, break the rules (maybe the law is dunno), and laugh about it in the office with Uncle Dennis and Ballmer.
Anyone complicit should be held properly accountable. Its just bad for basketball if not.
I don't care because I think this is just evidence it is being done by multiple organizations and is a fairly normal thing. Basically like paying college players before it was allowed. In a sense, teams can already legally break the cap with the luxury tax.
From what I gather, the NBA wants a league full of parity like the NFL, so if they want that, they need to raise the salary floor and tighten the salary cap so literally the only way to get a monetary advantage is to actually circumvent the cap. Which if the NBA really wants this model, they need to come down really hard on anyone who does this.
To me, the NBA would be better off if they reduced the number of teams and games, created more super teams in the process, and reduced the number of teams that make the playoffs. You'd get a lot more casual fans tuning in and also you'd get rid of the mostly terrible first round. But it's clear the NBA only gives a **** about making money rather than producing the best product, so the current iteration of the salary cap draws in the most regional fans and money since the hardcore fans will tune in regardless and the casual fans aren't costing them any money since the TV contracts will basically be the same regardless.
So, yeah, I really just want punishment on principle. Along with people that do dumb things should get caught. Like they knew this company was being investigated and were underwater. How did they or at least somebody on the Clippers payroll not let them know this **** would go public once the inevitable bankruptcy filing happened?
