When is the best time to play poker on a big sporting event weekend
In Australia, we have the Aussie rules football grand final (like our Super Bowl) this Saturday in Melbourne.
The following weekend we also have the rugby league grand final in Sydney.
I’ll be in both cities for both weekends, but I’m wondering when there is a big sporting event in a city, at what time in relation to the event are the live games best?
I was thinking that the night before the game after dinner is when most people will be out and about doing things, and those who came to town for the event would be playing poker.
My friend thinks the best time to play is right after the event (same day - few hours after final whistle) when everyone who was at the stadium has made their way back and playing poker before going to hotel/home. But I personally can’t imagine going to play poker after watching a huge event like this.
What is everyone’s thoughts? Does anyone have experience with this?
I wonder in Vegas on Super Bowl weekend what the best time slot is for the games

Maybe starting around 4 or 5 pm the day before, and the day of the event would get you access during peak times for the sports fans.
How about during the game itself? If it’s on TV in you card room, you probably could identify a few players who are distracted and paying more attention to the game than they are to the poker and exploit them (assume you aren’t too emotionally invested and getting distracted yourself).
