ESPECIALLY with the Rice thing earlier in the match. We have to take everything we can into account.
My take is I want this game to be over. Back doesn’t hit steam, and maybe there are some other reasonable clues I could be convinced of that would work better for back/whistle (football-related maybe, also call). I’m also being influenced by insanity’s spew when he updated the board.
eb makes a good point that the steam - 4 clue could’ve been purely to get us off of rice and clear a nasty neutral blocker off the board. In that case, he couldn’t have done a 3-clue (because of n-1), and he also couldn’t have don’t a 1-clue for the lone word because then he’d be tasked with closing things out with a 3-clue containing a blocker (i.e., one of fog/engine/laundry/whistle wouldn’t be ours and we’d have no real way of knowing which).
We really ****ed it up by not acknowledging that rice was clearly not ours.
But what just came up for me is that we still need at least one word for Eminem. And I’m not sure which of fog/engine/laundry could even stretch into it. Maybe engine for the Detroit connection, which is multi-step.
