2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
The bad news is that I have lost Tyreek in my misclick Bulldog. The good news is my team is toast and I no longer have to live with the regret of passing on Quinshon for the the turd Jaylen Wright.
He’s been really good (outside of last year) in games reek didn’t play and had multiple over 2 yprr seasons even w reek
Kinda surprised you’re out on him bc he has a star level potential profile (actually somewhat like Flowers haha)
But yeah we’ll see for sure soon
I wouldn’t say that I’m out, just that I’m not sure he gets a big boost from the Reek injury. I always viewed him as a lower volume, high efficiency play.
I protected myself in best ball with a safe 8% everywhere lmao. At least I rarely paired him with Reek. I never thought that was a good play like some others.
It looks like Reek has missed one game since moving to Mia. Week 15 of 2023. Waddle was 8/9 for 142 and a TD.
Harvey!
That was fun to see!
ROS:
-C. Rodriguez or Kendre Miller
-Slayton, Malik Washington or Sterling Shepherd
Kendre > Rodriguez
Slayton > Malik > Shepherd
I love how hard Davis gets trolled, especially since he blocked me on X for basically no reason lol.
Still alive in all of my guillotines. Have been very conservative with FAAB so far maining nibbling at the edges of secondary /depth players. But with byes upon us and injuries starting to become an issue I think it is time to get aggressive on the wire over the next few weeks.
I am learning as I go in this format but I don't think you want to wait too long to get aggressive. I have to on one team as the week 5 bye coupled with injury means it is do or die time. But once you pass the halfway point FAAB will mean less and practically every surviving team will become loaded and there will be plenty of playable talent for free as the number of teams decreases.
I can also see FAAB as a blocking tactic in the later weeks if someone has blown their wad so you want to keep some for the later rounds in case you get there.
There’s definitely an inflection point where surviving is greater than preserving FAAB. But I’m not sure that I agree that FAAB becomes less valuable the closer you get to the endgame.
When everyone is stacked, free playable talent may still not be enough. You still want to be chasing the primary elites with high floors and high ceilings that really matter. That player pool is pretty small.
You want to be able to build a team that looks something like CMC, Puka, ARSB, JT, Josh Allen, McBride, etc.
Blocking can also be important in the last few weeks.
I’d think either is fine . But I’d lean jcm .
Same
I'd rather drop Doubs
Doubs is fair too. They all probably have capped upside.
JCM probably has the most upside of the 3, but I think he’ll be stuck in a committee all season where it’s TD or bust.
JCM was definitely my first thought, just wanted to see if anyone had other preferences. Thanks!
Still doing some Underdog Bestball weeks 5-8 today. But I just noticed how so extremely distorted and off the ADPs that the website provides are. It felt like the preseason ADPs were closer to reality. These are so insane and unreliable.
Does anyone know how these ADPs are calculated? They feel so off as if they are trying to throw off the more casual or uneducated drafters.
It looks like the contest is full, so I’m guessing those ADPs are from whenever it filled. I don’t know when that was since I didn’t draft any.
ADPs will always reflect real draft activity and are not manually managed by UD, except at contest drop in certain situations.
If you’re playing SNGs, then ADP may not change once the main tournament is full. I’m not sure on that one. There also may not be enough SNG activity to materially impact the ADPs.
It's every ****ing week with these bad injury reports.
That looks good to me. Here are my initial quick reactions to my targeted player pool this week. Any disagreements? I have Benson and Bucky under draftable, even with this recent news. I might adjust that, but I might also play a few shares for swap potential.
I think I mostly agree with your assessment although I’m not sure shaheed is draftable given how much his role is shrinking, probably fading Juwan too if Foster and Taysom are active
Is Slayton/Malik fps in this?
Fair point on Shaheed. I was on the fence for him. I honestly don't even want to draft Olave since he somehow doesn't have a ceiling with his volume. It's honestly impressive.
I think Slayton is fine to mix in occasionally, since we've seen him spike. But I also think there are enough playable WRs this week, you don't need to get there.
I wouldn't play Malik. Even if he "hits," I don't see how he reaches 20 points. He'd probably need like 4 for 100 and 2 TDs to matter, but I guess it's possible. Seems too thin, but winning is also very thin haha.
LaPorta is one I'm on the fence on. On the one hand, they're projected to score 30 and it's the Bengals. On the other hand, he does not score well in games the Lions win wire to wire, which seems very likely. He mostly scores well when they're playing catchup. But he could still catch an early TD or 2, so I should probably not completely fade.
