British Politics

Been on holiday for a few weeks, surprised to find no general discussion of British politics so though I'd kick one off.

What are the non racist concerns of these communities?

Generally around house prices and the shortage of housing especially for young people, but also about zero hour contracts and lack of investment in local communities.

It's a curious thing, but our instinctive resistance to national ID cards is always expressed as 'Your papers, please,' imagined in a German accent. Except that, during the Second World War, when for a time there was a distinct possibility that the Gestapo might come over here and start demanding 'Your papers, please,' and public opinion was phenomenally united against the enem

Reminiscing is all very well but wartime UK is hardly relevant to modern digital Britain. Many kids (including my mother) were evacuated to live with total strangers, an operation unthinkable nowadays both in terms of logistics and danger, while the amount of data that will be held on people and accessed by unaccountable companies and state spooks will never be known.

Tesco profits are likely to hit £3Bn while between 10% and 20% of their staff are on Universal Credit.

Looking at the trajectory Britain is on, I really don’t think Britain is going to make it. A Lebanon style civil war and permanent state of ethnic /religious conflict seems inevitable.

Hopefully this is a warning to the rest of the western world of the dangers of unrestrained migration of people that have nothing but contempt for liberal values and bring their old world prejudices and zero sum tribalism with them.

I don't disagree that I think Britain will be the first western nation to crack under the weight of immigration - I can certainly see Reform's polling only being strengthened after the Manchester attack

The Manchester attack itself isn't even that big a deal. Islamists attack synagogues on Jewish holidays all the time. They also attack Christian churches all the time. There is nothing unique about the Manchester attack. That is just what you sign up for if you have a large Muslim population and you foster Islamism and radicalization as Britain has done.

But the fact in the same country as this attack on a high Jewish holiday, Islamists are marching through the streets of Britain chanting Islamic war chants about hunting down and killing Jews, and the British authorities just shrug their shoulders and say there is really nothing they can do; really illustrates how much the train has gone off the rails and it is probably too late to put it back on.

UK is a failed state. A case study on how NOT to do immigration.

LOOOL you're a sick fantasist.

Did this turn into spout bullshit day?

No, they don't. And the only reason it's not a big deal to you is that you're a hyper-nationalist American who considers the whole of the rest of the world merely America's play area.

British authorities just shrug their shoulders and say there is really nothing they can do...

They shot and killed the attacker, unfortunately also killing a Jewish man sheltering behind the synagogue doors. They had to fire additional rounds because the attacker, wearing what looked like a bomb vest, was still moving. Incidentally, the armed-response car attended within three minutes of the first 999 call, a performance I suspect few US police departments could match. And we also know that US police officers, when they can be bothered to put down their doughnuts, are normally under orders to hang back from any kind of confrontation with shooters, for legal-liability and health-and-safety reasons.

Maybe you think the police should do something about this lie.

or maybe they should shrug their shoulders and let you get on with it.

It's the stage we're at now. It used to be called spin by Campbell & co. Now it's just naked.

I do not post in the British Politics but heck seeing on the news how police are arresting folks for posts, tweets and people getting sentenced to prison is this really going on ?

Dont worry, I think Dunyain is safe

Well yeah. I am in the US. But it is kind of strange thinking I would probably be in prison right now with a longer sentence than many violent criminals if I was British.

You have been denying this for a long time. You better wake up fast.

Strange thinking indeed

The attacker was on bail for an alleged rape. Probably not a well-thought out policy to release violent extremist rapists back into the wild. I hope this isn’t standard practice in the UK.

Really can’t make this stuff up. The killers name was Jihad while his dad is a surgeon who openly praised Hamas and talked about the destruction of Israel. Truly no one could have seen this coming.

I’m surprised this entire incident hasn’t already been labeled as an Israeli false flag op by the more conspiratorial minded among us.

I guess there’s not much to be done about bail if he’s just an alleged rapist. However, it’s also alleged that he was sending threatening messages to pro-Israel politicians under his real name. This one really came out of left field.

And this is what “Globalize the Intifada” has always meant. There are just those who are either too naive to know, or worse, too cowardly to admit.

The far right, extremism, terrorism, antisemitism and more are all on the rise. 'The good guys' are not winning at the moment

I'm not really sure what your point is.
