His expectations are delusional. He should get $500 and play 100 $5 MTTs for the week with maybe a 25% roi and earn $125 for the week. do that for 12 months. He will be playing $22s and $33s after this time as long as he profits during this time realistically. Work a job for 3-4 days would help as well to buy the gf a dinner/drinks and go raving/steroid use etc.

I repeated things here cause this is how you make a profit from mtts not thinking about a big score from 1 mtt. its a long process and you also need to have a edge as well. 10% roi might be to high as well and is for most players. Most people are losers long term.

MTTs at $50 avg buyin you need 15k at least. Win at 10% and play 20 a day thats 100 a day. Maybe $10 a hour. if you can get 20% that $20 30% $30 a hour.

Hes not playing 10+ hours a day everyday to get better. thinking about hands while playing.
Hes just playing higher stakes mtts hoping for a win ocassionally.
No chance he will get a positive ROI if hes not continuing to improve his game.
I suggest you find a job. Play micro stakes just for the act of getting better at poker not to earn a decent amount of money quickly. Poker is not a get rich quick scheme.

$5.50s are too small. Even $11s are too small unless they are satties.
$15, $16.50s, $22s, $25s Small to midstakes Satties and regular mtts seem to be the go.
Smaller field MTTs reduce variance.
Why not be such a weak **** and get a stake (which idk if you can get bc your batshit crazy) or work multiple jobs to pay back backers and build up a roll to play?
