Wiesbaden Casino Spielbank
Anyone play Spielbank Wiesbaden?
I would pay 400 Euros to play here because Dostveysky gambled his fortune in this most beautiful room with roulette, blackjack, and five poker-tables. The room has gilded mirrors, marble columns, and hardwood furniture all made by legendary German craftsmen around 1810. Attached to the casino natural hot springs spa and the Staatstheater, if you want to see a play in German. It probably looks even better today than when they opened it 200 years ago. Lots of rich Germans, everyone nicely dressed. The rich Germans playing table games are just six feet from the five poker tables. If you are bankrolled, and want to feel like Prussian royalty, it's worth a trip. Beats all Vegas venues even if you gotta show your passport and register to get in, to keep out the riff-raff.
My guess is the game is all pros and whales. But the rake? Is it really max 2 Euro? Management said very clearly you must "tip" the dealer 1 percent per pot. Wie heisst das auf Deutsch? So actual rake is 12 percent to 100 and 10% with no cap. And you don't have to tip the dealer in addition because the "tip" is rake? Is that a beatable game? I play only 1-2, sometimes 1-3 with a 6 dollar rake to 60, then promotion and actual tip.

I mean actual rake is 12 percent to 20 to 1 percent that? Seems way too low or too high. I don't get it. I'm not bankrolled in any case.
Rake is 5€ if pot is more than 100€. If pot is more than 200€ they awaiting 1% tip. Dealer always tell you the size of the pot. „Tip“ in german is Trinkgeld
What stakes? And is it only hold em or Omaha too?
I’ll make the trip if game is big enough

Über Poker werbt Wiesebaden Spielbank "Cheapest rate for all cash games from 2/4 upwards. Blinds 2/4: Only 2 euros per pot (from a 50-euro pot upwards). Blinds 5/10: Only 5 euros per pot (from a 100-euro pot upwards)"

They have 2/4 and 5/10, hold em and sometimes Omaha. On the holiday night that I visited around 7pm, a mandatory 8 Euro straddle was on to make it 2/4/8 for hold em. I imagine later at night the 5/10 starts straddling too. I'm sadly only rolled 1-2 in dollars.
What's different from all other rooms is the proximity of the poker tables to roulette, blackjack, and baccarat. The room is small with room for only 12 tables, 5 for poker. There are no slot machines in the casino because elite Germans find them tacky. So these rich Germans play roulette or blackjack, then some poker if they win a lot or just want to stretch their time with their gambling money. I imagine that, like when Dostveysky played there 150 years ago, it's still full of whales.
I did not sit down but nonetheless doubt the table had many pros, if any at all. Poker is strictly illegal in Germany. Even home games are banned. While many skilled Germans play poker on the international circuit, none of them play in Germany. I doubt anyone makes a living playing poker in Wiesbaden. The "regulars" at this casino are super wealthy Germans gambling because they are already spending EUR 1,000s on vacation.
Is poker at Wiesbaden Spielbank, the most beautiful casino in the world, truly a soft game? Anyone know?
Wiesbaden is worth a trip if you want to see castles and vineyards along the Rhine River. It also has a dozen theaters and a world-class art museum. Price for the museum was EUR 12. Second-row seats at the theater was EUR 42. This all beats Vegas, unless you prefer burlesque and want to shoot guns in the desert rather than see castles and vineyards.
Beware that no one wears bathing suits in German spas. The spas are also not separated by sex. It can be kind of shocking to see beautiful naked women surrounded by art nouveau tiles. The whole scene looks like turn-of-the-century pornographic fine art. The difference is that most of women are older and all shapes and sizes. French artists rarely depicted depicted dumpy women in fine art . The men are also mostly dumpy. Imagine a poker table with all the men naked. Kind of gross.

??? When I was living there, poker was definitely not illegal. Every decent casino had poker. I never played at Weisbaden, but much of my BR came from Spielbank Bad Durkheim, before I realized that playing 5/10 with roll on table was a bad idea. Not a lot of pros in that game, but there was one guy I suspect was. Lots of folks who just saw it as one of the table games, and one where you lost slower than blackjack.

I meant home games are strictly illegal. No games in bars or clubs. Nosy neighbors call the police if you have nine people over. You can play poker only at casinos with state concessions.
My impression was that poker at Wiesbaden Spielbank was just another table game for rich Germans. Too bad I’m not rolled for 2/4/8 Euro.
