British Politics
Been on holiday for a few weeks, surprised to find no general discussion of British politics so though I'd kick one off.
The far right, extremism, terrorism, antisemitism and more are all on the rise. 'The good guys' are not winning at the moment
I'm not really sure what your point is.
Well, you live in a country where (white) Britons are being arrested for social media posts criticizing radical Islam. So one would assume the authorities have the legal wherewithal to start cracking down on blatant Islamic extremism and antisemitic going in your country, primarily in the Muslim community; they just dont seem to have an interest in doing so.
I think that is the point.
So not a real point then
No, they don't. And the only reason it's not a big deal to you is that you're a hyper-nationalist American who considers the whole of the rest of the world merely America's play area. They shot and killed the attacker, unfortunately also killing a Jewish man sheltering behind the synagogue doors. They had to fire additional rounds because the attacker, wearing what looked like a
I googled and it appears most synagogues in the US hire local police as private security during religious celebrations, at their own cost. Something which no other religion has to do, although with all the attacks on churches going on now, maybe they should start doing so too.
Kind of surprised that isn't the status quo in Britain too given how antisemitic the large Muslim population in Britain is. But I guess unlike the US, they dont have easy access to firearms so the threat of mass casualty events is much lower. And in Britain all the real violence is coming from the Muslim community and the left, whereas in the US there is actually an antisemitic right to contend with.
Anyways, I certainly wasn't critiquing police or any other first responders. I was criticizing the political class which got Britain into this mess.
Anyway it's good to know our police aren't too busy with deadly threats to arrest lots of peaceful protesters opposed to the horrors going on in gaza
Well, from what I saw many of the Yom Kippur riots that went on in your country were anything but peaceful, and there was lots of fighting with police. And just the fact you had planned massive "Anti-zionist" riots through your country on Yom Kippur says a lot about where your society is going.
Not on this planet
Police have made more than a 100 arrests in Trafalgar Square at what organisers hoped would be the biggest demonstration so far against a ban on the proscribed organisation Palestine Action.
Police began arresting demonstrators at the silent vigil in support of the group, which has been classed by the UK government as a terror organisation since July this year.
The first arrest took place shortly after 1pm as the seated protesters took out pens and wrote signs showing support for Palestine Action.
Dozens of police were lined up to begin arresting members of the group, who were sitting silently on the pavement in the square.
Early indications suggest the hundreds of protesters, with a mixture of ages and different backgrounds including many retirees, may not be enough to break the record for the number of arrests.
Two hours into the protest, the organisers said they counted about 1,000 seated people holding signs.
A Metropolitan Police update posted on social media said 175 people has been arrested in London which incuded six people after a banner was unfurled on Westminster Bridge.
It comes as the chair of the Metropolitan Police Federation has claimed “enough is enough” as she said officers policing protests in London were “emotionally and physically exhausted”.
Paula Dodds said: “Enough is enough. Our concentration should be on keeping people safe at a time when the country is on heightened alert from a terrorist attack. And instead officers are being drawn in to facilitate these relentless protests.
“And we are coming under attack for doing so. How can this be right?“
Yes Paula Doddss 'enough is enough' remember we keep getting told about having to prioritize. Time for you to prioritize in a sane manner.
How can it not be right to criticise you for arresting so many people peacefully holding a silent vigil against the horrors in Gaza? Sure the real fault lays with starmer and co but you don't have to do their dirty work for them. Tell em about priorities.
and those on command should have the guts to refuse to order their officer to exhaust themselves mentally doing such a disgusting job.

I am fully confident that if white Britons held organized unauthorized demonstrations of this sort on a Muslim holy day there would have been A LOT more arrests. And the Muslim community itself would have mobilized and violently rioted in response. Probably would have been serious race battles in the streets, with police siding with the Muslim rioters to defeat the whites.
Part of the problem is the Muslim community in your nation demands grace, respect and security they dont offer in kind. And will violently riot if their demands aren't met. And your political class is perfectly fine with this dynamic.
Or maybe they aren't fine with it, but they accept they dont have the force to do anything about it. Essentially meaning Britain has already been conquered, without a shot being fired.
I'm sure you are.
To be fair to Paula Dodds she did go on to say
“We are emotionally and physically exhausted. What are politicians and senior police officers going to do about it?”
Absolutely

This looks suspiciously like racist Tommy Robinson ****wittery.
What, from banned-for-racism poster Kelhus 99? Never!
The ever dreadful Laura Kuenssberg's client journalism hits new lows.
Dunno. Bit wary of weird grifters who go by assumed names.
Dupe.
I love your nails.
How you doin?
Debbonaire has no relevance to anything and merely changed her surname. Wilson and Brown were not weird grifters and did not go by assumed names. 'Zack (Legalise Crack!) Polanski', however -- the former David Paulden, from a rich and privileged family in which he is the under-achiever compared to his brother and sister -- is very much a weird grifter who goes by an assumed name. And he's probably going to find the 'Hypnotits' moniker quite hard to shake off, as it will always come back to haunt him.
Polanski may be his family name before it was anglicised. which I believe was pretty comon because of all the antisemitism etc.
Yeah he changed his name at 18 as a point of pride in his Jewish heritage (with a side of not wanting to have the same first name as his step dad). His past as a hypnotherapist might well haunt him but the name stuff is a bit ridiculous.
it's just the usual thing - people picking up on anything unusual to hit a radical they don't like.
The breast enlargement hypnotism thing is bad though.

Is that really happening - I thought Starmer during a press conference with Trump was saying how he is a big defender of freedom of speech? But then again I saw the arrest of the Father Ted co-creator when he had landed and I can probably see it happening.
