Last Vegas: A music and poker TR Oct 9-13
Hey LVL, longtime lurker/commenter here making a quick trip to Vegas this week for a semi-obscure music festival — and h
thanks for writing, I always enjoy reading a trip report. Sounds like you had a good time
Sounds like a nice trip, you just needed a bit more luck in the tournaments and it could have been very profitable. I am not in love with the line you took with the AA-hand at Venetian, although I have a feeling the guy would have called even if you made it 20k or whatever.Crazy that the Bellagio-tourney only got 11 entries; wonder how long they will try to run tournaments if t
You mean make it 20k preflop or 20k on the flop? I think preflop I could maaabye get a fold ... my guess is he talked himself into calling because I made it "so small" even if that's the proper size with ICM. And to be fair I want him to make that mistake.
He's not folding on flop for 20k after calling that hand pre, though I agree with you that the sizing is better than what I used. It's a dynamic board and as we saw I needed protection.
Was surprised at the small turnout for the Bellagio MTT ... I suspect the daytime ones do a bit better but agree that's not sustainable with a paid prize pool of $1250 and overlay of $750.
I just meant to make it 20k pre, which is likely the type of sizing I would have chosen myself over a 6, 500 raise.
I will freely admit I haven't studied much ICM, so I can't say anything about what that does to pre-flop sizings. But if a guy is willing to call a 3-bet OOP with T7hh, then he is surely also the type of player who would have called a bigger raise pre as well.
But poker is always easy as a Monday morning Quarterback, who knows what kind of sizing I would have chosen in the moment. Although my 3-bets are in general slightly bigger than what I see others are making it in MTTs.
