Berkey called it! Back in 2023. At the 27:15 mark
Stephen A Smith just said he thinks this is part of Trump's revenge campaign. Like Trump's intentionally targeting NBA owners who are political enemies by breaking this scandal right at the start of the NBA season.
I'm not trying to derail the thread into political mud slinging, but I'm shocked he's saying this publicly. My first reaction was to be skeptical of his accusation, but I can see where he's coming from with the timing of this story breaking right at the start of the season, and with Patel leading the press conference.
The NBA has been gambling on games for decades. Charles Barkley talked about his gambling addiction a few times.
In the 80’s, some college players were paid to throw games for Bookies. It took years for that to finally come out to the public.
I guess if you’re going to cheat, better do it right.
Bageled

Stephen A has noticed how incredibly lucrative the right wing grift has become and is positioning himself to become a political grifter
Probably shouldn't enable him in this endeavor
Incredible get. Scary AF. All I played was home games from 2005-2016.....never again.
FBI undercover agents in the poker games, some proper james bond ****
This has made headline news on BBC normie channels in the UK
It really depends on what someone like Billups knew. It wouldn't be unusual to see current or former NBA players in a private game. It wouldn't be unusual for those NBA guys to be promoted by the game runner in an attempt to get other rich whales to play. I have no problem believing that Billups took money to play in the game (or had an agreement to have all or part of any l
You forgot:
4) Billups was paid an "appearance fee" for the game, and wouldn't know a crooked game from a straight one.

5) Billups himself was so in debt to the game/gambling, Cosa Nostra made him an offer he couldn’t refuse, work with them to recruit and bilk whales and we’ll settle your debt.
Yeah , sick callout by Berkey 2 years ago . Articles seem to mention rfid being used it the cards , but you’re right seems like the pros knew they were being cheated but not how .
Hopefully these are the kinds of things that wake people up and move away from the recent trend of private games and back to casinos .
Which article mentions RFID? I am reading marked cards. Cards Xray readable while face down. Hidden cameras. And reprogramed shuffle machine. (I presume a DM2 but that could be wrong.)
I did not see RFID mentioned or implied.
Yeah, this is huge. I echo the earlier comment that this would already be 500 posts deep if this happened in 2010.
Dosent he run a streamed game where he and the staff have access to hole cards in real time and explained the reason behind it was for camera views? Hasn't that same streamed game been rife with criminals, bad actors(figurativelyand literally) , human traffickers, scammers and is infamous for a cheating scandals itself?
About time basketball became interesting

This video of Rozier fixing games is hilarious.
Last year 2024, Chauncey Billups (current Portland Trail Blazer head coach) was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
This story is at the very top of the NY times online version.
They all had a plan till the **** hit the fan, will be interesting to see how many get smeared when this all plays out.

He's a jackass blowhard who says anything to get ratings.
This investigation obviously started before Trump was back in office. It was gonna be terrible for the NBA no matter when it dropped. If they really wanted to hurt the NBA they could wait for the playoffs.
I vaguely remembered Berkey saying that about Billips. People should always be wondering WHY they're invited so some crazy good high stakes games if they're a pro.
NBA being rigged should be common sense
The ref scandal was probably just the tip of the iceberg

I’m curious about the tech behind an “x-ray” table. What was it made of, how does it work, did players need glasses to see it, etc etc.
