Codenames for Suckers

Anyone (preferably who hasn't played in ages/ever and sucks at it like myself) fancy a game of Codenames?

Or regulars if

I don't get March.

The 3rd (as opposed to 1st) month.

Definitely brick for mason. Possibly also ladder and seal (in that order)

Whoops, forgot about this. Will clue tomorrow

trench - unlimited

Definitely war

Crusader is another war word, but they didn't use trenches AFAIK.

Root is an under the ground word like a trench

Where's Marianas Trench? Bermuda? Probably not and anyways it's not capitalised.

We need 5 words and Octopus, Delta and March are backups

I suppose I need to read those recent posts where IBD gave his thoughts on unlimited clues in the endgame

Trench is kinda like a pocket?

Maybe

How many trench words and how many non-one words do you think we're dealing with here?

2 and 3 or 3 and 2?

Reading IBD's thoughts on unlimited end game means guess the obvious and then run the backup list.

Kinda what I previously thought.

War
Root
Octopus
Delta
March

That's a first draft, now let's pick it apart and refine it.

I certainly don't think Root belongs that high.

I wouldn't even have it in my top 5 at all.

I'd guess 2/3, but 3/2 is possible.

So you'd go

War
Pocket
Octopus
Delta
March?

I feel like there's a lot better out there for War and pocket

Fatigues or something.

So you think this is War/Pocket/Root? Or just War/Root?

I don't love root either tbh.

Let's think about one - 0 for a second

We had no backup list so there was no danger we were being steered away from.

It was purely a clue to get us words. We've got none of those words so far.

You wouldn't put a 0 clue down for 2 words would you? I mean surely there's an actual positive link to just drop a 2 clue.

This makes me think that one - 0 was for 3 words and we've got 2 from trench.

Do you agree with that "logic"? Or am I just making inferences where I shouldn't?

I like Octopus and March for one - 0 but I'm dubious about Delta.

Does delta work for you? It's an obscure name for a 4 sided shape in the UK. It's also the 4th letter of the Greek alphabet.

Could you also lump root in with one - 0?

Positive and negative roots etc.

Weren't we all part of a game that I clued for root in the maths sense of things?

Edit: found it. I clued principal for root and you got it. Not really relevant here.

...which is shaped like a triangle.

Yes I agree with this.

So we've got Octopus, March, Delta and then we've got 2 trench words

I think we're both liking war and then the other one is up for discussion.
