I dont really understand why Arteta tends to go full bus when up a goal or 2. The first half it seemed like we could play Burnley for about 3 straight days and they’d never score.
I suspect the reason I don’t understand is because I don’t know the first thing about football.
Seems like energy conservation more than anything.
It's a long season and the attack has several injuries right now. I like the approach.

CL on Tuesday. Between the league, cups and international breaks these players are playing a ****ton of games. Actually didn’t mind a low energy park the bus second half. Let them rest a little.

I assume it's to preserve energy. Long season and Arsenal already have a substantial injury crisis.
Sadly, imo xavi has at this point been the biggest flop for us in recent memory. Even guys like ndombele showed real quality sporadically. Xavi is about the worst player I’ve seen in our shirt…just constantly gives it away. Maybe he could progress the ball against some German farmers but he can’t beat anyone now and he has no pace or strength on the ball.
He’s clearly out of form and young enough to improve a lot anyway, but he’s just plain bad right now.

Perhaps there was a reason why no big PL clubs looking for a CM were interested in him.
Yeah everyone assumed he would go to Chelsea until they signed like 5 guys that play in similar positions, and anyone outside the top 6-8 wouldn’t have had any chance anyway.
In all seriousness I expect he can bulk up and improve quite a bit if he puts the work in next summer. The PL is a brutal place for under strength midfielders, just ask Fabio Vieira. He’s certainly not untalented.
This is why bergvall seems so crazy. He’s really young but already physically dominant. He’s grown and bulked up since he arrived too. I think there is a chance he goes supernova in a couple of years.
With our luck, he will be out until 2026 due to the concussion.
The one rider I’ll add to what I said is that you can still thrive without the physicality if you have elite level skills eg Fabregas, Silva, Gundogan etc but you do need to be among the best in the world.
