I suppose as a thought experiment I’m somewhat curious if you subscribe to the idea of ‘trump couldn’t have sexually assaulted women operating under the assumption that he says things just to say things like how he claims to be a success at business but is actually a failure’ what you think trump is from a sexuality standpoint
1. Does he respect women and insist that everything is consensual and above board and no means no? And if so, show your work given that, as a reminder, he was found liable for sexual assault so the burden of proof is on you

I don't really care to try to defend Trump on this. It might help some of you to actually listen to the tape again though.
I've listened to it. If you are suggesting that Trump might have been lying for whatever reason, I think that's entirely possible. Trump's instinct to lie is more powerful than his instinct to do almost anything else.

Kicking ass in the business world is a very common idiom. “Grab em by the pussy” is not. So that’s one symmetry breaker with respect to why the meanings might be taken more literally.
Also didn’t he literally say on the same tape that he pops tic tacs and just starts kissing women? And he “moved on her like a bitch”? These don’t seem to be figurative, he seems to be being very explicit and literal in the acts he’s describing.
Actually the only real defense if we wanted to be the most charitable possible, we could say that he was lying about sexually assaulting women to make himself look more alpha than he actually is, which is just all types of disgusting.

I would imagine that when you're a literal billionaire, you're in a different category than some horny 25 year old heading down to the Vegas strip in the hopes to pay 1000 bucks to get into someone's pants and then drive back to modesto and pretend that nothing ever happened and that you're a still a honorable guy. So I guess none of the above.
These guys probably wouldn't understand sexual harassment and consensual sex at all when they are born into paying and treating women like nice cars at best, or cattle at worst.

I think it is entirely possible that he was exaggerating how he typically behaved around women. But as you say, the only possible explanation for exaggerating his behavior in this way is hugely problematic.

I agree that that unfairly categorizes all rich people. I haven't thought about it for very long obv but I would guess a comparison would be how white people treated blacks in the 50s to how some rich people see women. When you're surrounded by that behavior and have it reinforced around you, it just lowers the bar, I guess.

I feel like not being rapey is a relatively low bar to hurdle, especially when you’re not exactly hurting for consensual options like Trump was at the time. It’s a power thing more than anything.
