The Downfall of PokerStars?
I've been playing on PokerStars for close to two decades.
What in the world has happened to PokerStars support? You lite
Getting rid of Supernova was fine. The way they did it and the way they completely neglected their site after is the problem.
2005, i.e. pre-UIGEA, PartyPoker probably had >50% market share in the US with FullTilt & PokerStars as the two biggest of the "newcomers". Compared to those other two, PokerStars isn't doing that poorly today.Back then, MySpace was the leading social network. That year YouTube and Reddit were started and Facebook was on the way to opening to the general public.
Until you told them how far they managed to fall after that domination, which is my point.
Yeah the pokerstars support is really **** these days

Yea didn’t they (Amaya) buy poker stars around 2014 as well? Point is Amaya bought into a dying industry for too much money. They needed to recoup that loan thus cutbacks inevitable. A lot of their post purchase decisions bludgeoned their player pool to death. The SNE rug pull in November was the obvious worst offense. Poker is an ecosystem. When you throw off the balance it can deteriorate quickly. If I had to guess most executive decisions were made by people with no poker knowledge just corporate takeover mindset and not enough research into maintaining a poker ecosystem
but a lot of players simply do not know that they are easy reachable within the software unde the help section
If by easily reachable you mean navigate through multiple pages to get there via the help desk, then get connected to an AI agent which opens in a miniscule box you can not resize or slide accurately which then types in a format which is entirely unreadable on my windows laptop so I can only communicate by clicking on options which have nothing to do with my query and are not even being answered by a person and I cant even read the response given then yes they are "easily reachable".
Even under the complaints process, which is a regulatory requirement in the UK, it is made incredibly difficult to find an actual written contact method with a human. You can eventually find a "contact us" form via the terms and conditions linking to a different website.
I realise times are tough and everyone has to earn a living, including online poker sites, but its ****ing awful.

Yeah ok ok but once u know where its not very difficult anymore to reach an agent imo. Last time took me like 5 minutes to 10 minutes to reach and everything was sorted out after. Definitely quicker than any mail option.

You literally have to chat with an AI bot who can not answer the most basic of questions. There are no email addresses to email and they will not speak to you over the phone. They've lost my business. If they can longer provide sufficient support on simple issues, ca
It is not the customer service that bothers me, it is losing every hand when i am 80-90% ahead, and i mean every hand, I am so tired of this it does not even feel like poker, the statistical anomalies are way out there, it is almost the opposite of real poker when live i win 70-80% of the time, with the best hand, on pokerstars.es i lose 100% with the best hand, can someone explain this suspicious company? I just want to play a fair game, can someone suggest another site, because i have had enough of this random RNG (random ha ha). Does the gaming commission not investigate this company regularly because they need to.

Why not publish these statistical anomalies and take down this evil rigging company?
Losing EVERY hand even though you are 80% ahead is not normal, yet it clearly happens to you.
Show us this data and we will take them down together !!

You act like proof will matter. The countries the sites pick as their home countries care about the cash they get from the sites not whether the sites are cheating. And if they decide to care the site simply sells out to a shell company with a different home country that understands their role.
You think players wont care if they play on a site that has been proven to rig the deck?
Do you think players rather play a fair game or a game with "statistical anomalies"?

If a site was proven to be doing this they would lose face quicker than the A-Team in a maze.
Anyone who would play on a site known and proven to rig a deck would be deserving of being wrecked.

I think based on what players did after all the proven scandals in terms of bots, super users, collusion, RTA, etc on online poker sites enough will not care. Given how easy it would be to cheat and only get caught if turned in by a disgruntled member of your group your belief that you can find a "fair game" seems foolishly naïve to me. Of course I can't prove you wrong but neither can you prove me wrong and my belief is supported by the factual numbers of people caught while yours is based on believing if not caught did not do it,

And sites that have had proven RTA, bots, collusion? Or are you claiming everyone playing on those sites deserves what they get?

Huge difference between these things. rta-ing, multiaccounting, superusing, softplaying, bots, collusion etc are all wrongdoings of the PLAYERS. and these players you will find everywhere unfortunately
Rigging a deck is wrongdoing of the POKER SITE
You must understand this difference and just act a fool right?
There was 1 case where the superuser was indeed from the site and that was Russ Hamilton on the Cereus network (ultimate bet & absolute poker).
And in case you have missed this, after it was known the volume there nosedived down and the network quickly was done
Which does prove the point that players DONT want a site screwing them over (who would have thought huh)

Russ Hamilton was the Ohtani interpreter of super-user-gate.
With the likes of GG Poker (total disaster for the poker world overall), absolutely ducking up online poker, I don't know why Poker Stars can't make a comeback with the appropriate ownership / personnel changes.
Been a pokerstars customer for 15 years. Over that time I've witnessed them make weird decision after weird decision that pushes their customers away. Up a whole punch on the site. Past Wcoop I go to play the plo Mains and my account is locked and deposit limits reduced to $500 out of literally nowhere. Emailed them asking wtf is going on? They got back to me like 5 days later which was obviously no help. So I won't be playing on there and **** em.

Damn!
They were a great company at one time.
But they did sell to different owners.

GG are hosting the biggest online tournaments ever and breaking records every year with the prizepools. I'd imagine for most tournament players who can access it, it's one of the best things that's happened in poker for a while.

"Interesting.
I'm coming from the perspective of a cash game player; GG was one of the worst things that ever happened to me.
I was grinding my ass off to get Plat status for the rakeback, losing a lot in the process, then later on I found out about "PVI". They scammed me.
I don't know about the tournament scene but cash games are not beatable at GG unless you'r doing leaderboards."
Contrasting with my experience at Poker Stars, they had a great site back in the day. The rake was very fair and also very transparent. Security was tight. New ownership must have been incompetent to screw up such a promising company with a proven success.
Unless maybe Daniel Negs was right - GG is right, and more rake is better.
I would take Stars over GG for sure, if we were talking about the old version of Poker Stars. Not even close.
You're comparing GG now to Stars back in the day, which doesn't really make sense.
If your main issue with GG now is the rakeback, surely the stars mystery box is way worse?
Also if you're a cash game player, do those games even exist on stars anymore?

You're correct. I agree with you.
GG has absurd rake. You need at least 2 whales at the table to break even in the PLO games there.
but this thread was about poker stars. I think PokerStars doesn't have enough traffic anymore there the games were pretty dead.
The company now seems to suck pretty bad. I was suggesting that they go back to their old model which i thought was pretty good.
UK govt wants 40% tax from gross rake (up from 21%), starting next April. Another nail in the coffin.
