1st Sunday of Advent is here (depending on timezones) and so Christmas-season has officially started.

Spoilering this one as it's NSFTWOW.*

she gave a free outdoor concert sponsored by ll bean

was weird because it started at like noon and nobody was allowed to stand, everyone had to be seated in chairs they brought for themselves

was good but vibes were off

I'm at the Bellagio a lot. The usual mix of songs in the casino are recognizable hits, usually older stuff (pre-2000).

Recently, I kept noticing a song called "Dance All Over Me." It stood out because it sounded more like a modern hip hop song (except that it was good 😀 ).

Today, I looked it up on YouTube and discovered it wasn't performed by a black American hip hot artist (apparently a commonly made mistake based on YouTube comments). Instead, it's a white British rocker named George Ezra.

Ezra has had some #1 hits in England, other European countries, and Australia. But, he hasn't had any success in the United States.

This isn't his most popular or most successful song. It's just the one that somehow gets played at the Bellagio.

A couple of years ago. Sandy Lam's cover of Take My Breath Away appeared in the Bellagio rotation for a month. I was familiar with it from the movies, but couldn't quite accept that that's what I was hearing. Eventually a dealer confirmed.

Maybe a little too polished for the spirit of Tiny Desk, but I really enjoyed this. Ends with Life During Wartime.

I'd been hearing this cover of Higher Love in casinos. The singer was fantastic. I kept thinking, whoever this is, she is going to be huge.

I eventually looked it up and it was a remix of a Witney Houston performance.

First Aid Kit is always welcome.

Think it's the first time I've heard Lola Young, but that one's going on my playlist 😃

Update: this is my playlist - she's pretty much all I've been playing the last few days. I love her voice so much.

The only way this could be improved was if she was from West-London, but that's just nitpicking.

posting Sonny Boy extracting licks from a harp is akin to cheating

seems an appropriate season to pause and acknowledge how our particular monikers and icons might change over time when blessed with the gifts life presents us
