Which necessarily tells you something -- something that would be shocking if it applied to women and girls -- about what the lives of men and boys are like, and how tolerable they find those lives. Yet society shrugs and isn't bothered. After the age of 50, I'm afraid, the rate actually increases. Deaths from other causes increase more, but suicide remains a leading cause of death in men to the limit of human longevity.
