Desert Diamond West Valley (Glendale/Phoenix, AZ)

Desert Diamond West Valley (Glendale/Phoenix, AZ)

This new venue officially broke ground on August 28th. I think they're trying to get it open within 18 months. According to their own casino FAQ, there will be a 25 table poker room. Poker is popular in Phoenix and the West Valley is no exception. Until now the only "good" games have been in Scottsdale at Talking Stick. There have been a bunch of smaller, back-room poker rooms at other businesses but most of those have closed over the last year or two.

I'm excited to see how this poker room comes along. Hopefully we get some good games on the west side now. Driving back and forth from Buckeye to Scottsdale is brutal, especially after a really long session. I'm hoping for the standard games we have at Talking Stick:
2-3 and 3-5 Spread Limit
3-6, 4-8 and 8-16 limit (20-40 would be great but might be ambitious at first)

I'm also hoping for some good, deep stack tournaments with longer structures. 40+ minute levels and not "skipping" levels. Might be a bit much to hope for but I'm excited about the possibilities.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

What's the story on this place? Is the poker room still open?

as far as I know, last time I was there the room was nice a spread out and well run. Friend of mine was the table games manager for the tribal casinos, he just passed away at a relatively young age, very sad.

Yes it is, just check Bravo. Usually in the 10-15 table range in evenings. About 50/50 LHE vs NL. Used to get the only regular small PLO game in the valley but Lone Butte stole it. Gets random large private games and PLO from time to time.

8/16 goes some evenings.

I really liked the room the few times I played there (a few years ago now). Recognized a few old CAZ regulars who are now regulars there in the 8/16.
