The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
Calgary is 7-2-1 in their last 10.
Seeing the Habs for the first time in a while. The whole Atlantic outside TB is a dumpster fire
Oilers Sabres game is nuts!
Have Oilers in a 3 team parlay. Thought they were dead until 1.9 seconds left in regulation.
Edit: Sabres win poo
Calgary's won 3 straight.
Flames running the anti tank manoeuvring right now.
Habs call up G. Jacob Fowler. Turned 21 last month. So, this is a risk to his development. .870 team G save % though.
Evans has been playing hurt for last month and is in Philly for a second opinion. Owen Beck is called up again.
Losing Guhle. And Newhook was playing his best hockey. Dach and Laine...Add in Evans. That is a middle six line and a top 4 D man out. Habs worst 5 on 5 team in league, getting nothing from botton 6.
They said unusual number of scouts at game last night. Like a dozen. Trade talks picking up.
The Wings are basically even money tonight at home to the Flames. That's not a great sign for the rebuild.
32.canucks about to get shut out at home by john gibson in the year of out lord 2025. i think this is rock bottom
i may have spoke too soon with the 32.canucks hosting their expansion cousins tonight, the worst in the east, buffalo sabres. i'm fully expecting a historic display of sucktitude that'll blow that embarrassing shutout of the water

Oiler's trade Skinner and Kulak to Pittsburgh Goalie Jarry.
Not sure this makes them better but Skinner's time was done. Still have a horrible D
Wow on Skinner!
You can bet Mcdavid was all part of that.
Wasn't Jarry just on waivers in January and his contract is like $6M a year? So lol
They needed to do something obviously, but this is just terrible

Fowler looked great but so did Dobes through his first 20 games, let's hope Fowler can keep it up. Monty can't be sent down, so looks like it might be Dobes in the AHL for a bit? Maybe he can dominate there and get his confidence back.
Injuries suck, Guhle is a big loss, and Newhook/Dach finally looking good, but most teams are dealing with similar losses or worse.
How do you figure worst 5-on-5 team? Maybe close in terms of goals against b/c the goalies have been awful, but by most key metrics, Habs are 16th-24th, not great, but not dead last.
Main thing is that the Habs are still the youngest team and they are a full 2 years younger than the 3rd youngest team. Still frustrating being a fringe playoff team, but the pieces are starting to come together and the future looks extremely bright, and our prospects are performing very well too.
As far as worst 5 on 5, idk really what the stat was that I heard, I can't remember. I think you're right, they aren't that bad.
Yeah, I think Fowler looked cool and collected out there. Smiling. Looks like a real NHL starter. But hey, very young. And one game. So, idk. Reinbacher they said...it was 260 min or so 5 on 5, team gave up 4 goals. So, i mean that sounds good...might see him later this year.

Yup on waivers and the $ number is close . Skinner was on the last year of his contract as well Jarry has 2+ years
Quin Hughes to Minnesota
Kinda like this trade for MN. They been trying to trade Rossi forever, Buium I was never impressed with. Asked a buddy in MN and he said Ohgren is meh. Only signed through 2027 so they HAVE to get an extension done in the summer.
The Aves are the best team in hockey. I suppose when you have the best offensive player, the best defensive player and two goalies in the top 5 of the league that'll do it.
no way do i believe that "zeev buium" is a real person
Rossi and Zeev are good.
Ohgren is meh. Winger, no points in 18 games this year. Career is like 7 in 50.
Pick is late first round. Good, not great.
Can't complain too much as a Nux fan. They needed to do something. Situation was untenable.
Wild gotta be thrilled. Gonna be $$$ for 2 guys (Hughes and Kaprisov) once they can extend Hughes.
