The worst part in all this is now any spy cluing for ervin's team is gonna have no idea how they should use unlimited becuase ervin is gonna be even more stubborn than ever.

I try to give logic and figure out what words are ours, I am met with ad hominems over and over about how i'm wrong and stubborn and all of this as my teammate REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING EXCEPT SPAM THE WRONG ANSWERS WITH NO DISCUSSION AND INSULT ME. OK.

Ok I think this might be getting a bit out of hand. Maybe everyone take a step away from the keyboard.

I guess it feels like that when you say over and over "who knows what wonky **** he is doing", "you gotta stop with this", "literally everyone does it this way except you", "that's all there is to it" - these absolutes sound very dismissive to anything I'm saying and I feel I'm spending the game defending myself rather than talking through possible scenarios

this just felt gettable, and it all makes sense to me with no crazy weird clue usage, the clue seems logical in a tricky spot

It's not logical tho. If it's 3+bridge, then you give a 3-clue in that spot every single time. Just because you happened to be right in this instance, doesn't mean it was the right guess.

Also, you're making it sound like you had this all figured out and I was just talking you out of the correct answers left and right. If it was left up to you we'd ve guessing stuff like rose and parachute and whatever else happened to tickle your fancy at the time.

I mean to me it was bridge + likely pound + deduce some things, I went the roundabout way of Pound + Coin because maybe we could discuss after but that didn't really happen

We were discussing the other coin options, but it just wasn't as important as agreeing on why he gave an unlimited clue in that spot.

anyway, I'm not here to argue, or get mad, or follow some illogical rules or traditions and be called weird or stubborn or whatever if I don't and want to play a different way.

I like to play in a way in which every game is different, and the essence of the game is trying to figure out what your spymaster is doing, and yea there can be patterns playing with a person but I don't like some unwavering hard and fast rule that dramatically limits options(from a playing and strategic perspective) in most games

I've repeated it doesn't make any sense, Zurvan used it in the logical correct way IMO, if someone new came on here and wanted to play they would also assume it means to guess the next backup or likely come to a similar conclusion. would like people to feel welcome, not pile on or make someone who is trying to win feel bad

I don't think anybody really cares that you clue in a different way to others, and the logic of unlimited for 2nd on list doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either tbh. But if everyone else is doing it a certain way, then it only makes sense to guess how you expect they are using it. Obviously if you were cluing I would not have been advocating we skip bridge.

This went too far. People need to cool down, take a break. I get codenames can get frustrating but personal insults is not ok.

Truth

Here was my thought process behind unlimited instead of a 3 clue. You had the first & 3rd word on the list correct. We (d1 & I in particular for a couple games, but also the three of us in this game) had not connected well on clues. My fear with a 3 clue is that you then decide to skip over circle, so I decided that an unlimited clue makes you think about the list you had left, and hopefully revisit the clues to try and figure it all out - which you did, even if unsuccessfully.

Maybe I overthought it and a 3 clue gets us the win.

And before anybody gets angry at me for thinking I insulted them or something: I don't think anyone here is dumb / made bad choices / whatever. We just weren't able to see eye to eye on this
