New fast food discussion/review thread
OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.
In
Never had Shake Shack. It appears to be a real restaurant, where the intent is to eat in their place. I don't do that, except very rarely. I drive thru and take it home. Even in Vegas, I usually take it to my room.
They have had online ordering for years. Only have to walk in and pick it up after getting the notification that your food is ready.
Apparently my first time was October of 2015 at NYNY in Vegas. I'm sorry for missing our anniversary this year shake shack.
Did Jimmy Johns get bought out by private equity? I had JJ's at a work lunch earlier this week and the sandwich was about 40% smaller than it used to be.
It was still pretty good, toasting really upgrades the JJ experience. Would eat again, at least on someone else's dime.
sorry can't say, never really liked the place
They sold out to private equity in 2016. In 2019 private equity sold out to this:
addition to Jimmy John’s, Inspire’s restaurant portfolio includes Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, SONIC Drive-In and Rusty Taco.
Since then they bought Baskin Robbins and Dunkin. Guessing some of those are struggling or they spent too much on br/dd so they are squeezing the others.
Not a huge JJ fan either other than liking that it's generally super quick.
It's a step (or more) above Subway, at least.
Yeah, I would never choose JJ for any reason other than convenience. It's fast, they deliver and lots of workplaces seem to have it as a default go-to. Don't think I've ever had JJ's other than for work lunches.
If I'm getting a sandwich on my own time and own dime, it's either a local place or Jersey Mike's.
full disclosure there was a period of a few months when jj was the closest cheap lunch option so i ate there a dozen times or so.
their standard bread is my biggest negative but they had a square sliced wheat option that was pretty tasty

I only tried JJ 2-3 times. It may be totally dependent upon my particular order, but the word "tasty" never crossed my mind. Not even one flash.
No, I just like to make better use of my time. I can eat, watch tv, watch youtube during the commercials, and read email (I get 200 a day) all at the same time.

You mean get out of my car like an animal?
It's pretty much moot, there are no Shake Shacks nearby.
Moving from getting more than that a day to almost zero remains the best decision I've ever made.
Unfortunately it removes my excuse to eat fast food most of the time 😡
Opened up the Popeyes app for the first time in a while and 2 4 9$ chicken sandwich deal is in there. A real Christmas blessing.
Only had JJ when they were the pioneer of delivery. Freaky fast. Now I'm with Booker, it's Jersey Mike's for me. Or Firehouse when I'm in the mood for a meatball sub.
One thing JJ does legitimately well is their tuna salad. If you’re into that kinda thing, would put it up against any other fast food or fast casual tuna.
Had a JJ manager as a roommate many years ago. Iirc. The secret was pressing the tuna dry before mixing and soy sauce.

JJ’s potato salad is not terrible either. Also Jalapeño Jimmy Chips are quite strong.

Did not know that. I'll have to give it a try someday.
I got my annual McDonald's unbagged review today.
It said I saved $270 dollars last year and ate 51 filet o fish. 😮
I saved $145, top move was breakfast + drive thru.
It says I purchased exactly 1 extra value meal and for the life of me I cannot remember it.
