So we have fairly conclusive video evidence that 3 Rams players had zero interest in pursuing a loose ball when no whistle had yet to be blown. Are we blaming the officials for that?
Who cares what we label Charbonnet's actions. In relation to the Rams' complete disinterest, "pursuing" is reasonably close to accurate. Simply, he was the only player with the awareness to get the ball, in clear contrast to the 3 Rams players in vicinity who had zero awareness.
And if players "pick up the ball after every play" what excuses the Rams players for not doing exactly that?
There is zero point in trying to excuse the Rams players for quitting on the play, which is exactly what they did BEFORE the whistle was blown.
As a poster stated above, the actions of the reffs in this case were irrelevant in deciding how the play completed. And players should know (as many do) that in play calls can be overturned, which explains players running 50+ yards with the ball when most have given up on the play, only to be determined later that the 50 yard return stands.
after scouring yellow sports newspaper pages for so long my liberating inkling surprise today is learning for a white dude who grew up washing near moscow palouse idaho mule potato country more or less including last and night next week cooper has puked eight times into a copper cup against cover two shells with rip the neck and balls out hawk safety techniques on over 1.1% of his touches

What are you even talking about? Are you sure you watched the actual clip?
#53 is being pushed backwards and isn't even looking towards the ball. There is no way he's getting there with his momentum.
#48 and #91 are running towards the ball with about the same gusto as Charbs, until they heard the whistle.
You can try to argue that regardless of whistle or not, the Rams players should have kept going for a ball that is ruled incomplete 99% of the time. But saying they quit on the play is hilarious and ridiculous. Not one player in the clip is going after the ball as if it's live. There are multiple Seahawks in the area too.
Had the Rams players gone and tried to take a presumed dead ball away from Charbs, they could risk some type of dumb taunting penalty.
You are severely overestimating the reactions you expect in the actual time that elapsed.
This is a good concise replay in real time for anyone else curious. The actual words of the post are irrelevant.
was also young once and sat upon a phonebook
how could you not help but think
how elevated my position
Yeah, I get the point of replay is for the game to be officiated as accurately as possible. But I've never cared for the fact that the clear recovery can still be granted after the play was blown dead on the field. Especially since penalties exist for continuing to play after the whistle. Charbs looked bashful as he was picking up the ball, like, it probably won't matter, bu
I think he was just picking up the ball and not even thinking it might be live.

I mean the rams objectively got ****ed, but **** the rams, and the Niners are now super live for the 1 seed, so we good
It's like golf: know the rules and win more money!
Just learned niners in drivers seat for #1 seed lol
Like I said in ETA above, Rams were clearly not pursuing the loose ball prior to the whistle being blown. Its on them for giving up on the play.
What are you even rambling about? lol Why would you pursue a ball if it's blown dead.
I'm not sure why you're going on about this honestly. I think everyone that's been talking about this in here agrees the 2 pts was good. The problem is in the replay rules on a backwards pass, and the ability to claim an indiscriminate whistle retroactively. The only way the defense knows the ball is live is if the refs don't blow the whistle.
And on this specific play, it was inches from not being lateral (which most people, including the players didn't think it was), so when the ball hits the ground, and the refs blow it dead. Why would you go after the ball?
@mrbaseball, I'm on the Bears today. Parsons too big of a loss. If Bears can't get it done here that should tell you everything you need to know.
dude has the arm in handcuffs
idiot announcer: refs are letting them play physical
Let's go Commies!

Must win tonight but all remaining games are tough ones. Big line move opened Packers -3 and is now Bears -1.5. I am excited to have a team looking good this late and they have been improving week by week.
Can we just call this game over and move on to the real game?

at least olsen is consistent, that was a trash call.
That looks like an old-fashioned bar fight!
I have also figured out who Bezos unloaded his cameras with the weird focal lengths (or whatever) on! I hope you got a good deal, Fox.
Chippy!
off to a good start. fist fight on play 1
4 flags on the kickoff seems ominous
If it weren't for penalties the Pack can't move the ball at all
