New fast food discussion/review thread
OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.
In
how can one post for so long in this thread and have no concept of an introductory popeyes order
Our firehouse has gone downhill. I'd guess some PE firm bought them out as well. But, that sweet and spicy meatball is one of my favorites.
On Jimmy Johns, the Italian with mayo is the only thing I'd get there. The ones around here closed a few years ago.
italians with mayo is a mcmuffin staple.
Popeyes virgin here. They just opened a store locally. Any reccos for first-timer? I can't make sense of their menu. It says stuff like "Louisiana this". How am I supposed to know what Louisiana is like, I never been to Louisiana.
I think their sides are fine, but overpriced. I only get them when they have one of their Big Box deals going on. Chicken sandwich is elite, and I prefer the spicy version. Secret menu item though is to just order a la carte pieces of fried chicken. Prices vary by market, but my go to order of one breast and one wing is $5.50ish, and comes with a biscuit. When I'm really hungry I'll bump that up by a dollar and get two breasts. As with the sandwich, I prefer spicy.
Rec for blackened ranch as you dipping sauce is on point.
Don't sweat the geography. It ain't that close.
My preferences: fried chicken (dark meat), spicy chicken sandwich, fried chicken sandwich.
Sides: red beans and rice (more like red beans flavored rice) and cole slaw. Biscuits are usually good.
I found their wings to be hit or miss, but it has been a couple of years since I had any.
Malucci approves of this message.
I’ve been thinking about this for days. But I don’t know…I was underwhelmed with the Shake Shack that I posted. I appreciate your understanding in these uncertain times.
My sage advice for Popeye's trips is to not insist on spicy if there's gonna be a wait. Their regular is still really good, and I can't stand waiting for anything.
And I second everything Garick said, especially buying the pieces ala carte.
What's the issue with waiting 10 minutes? I'm rarely that pressed for time.
Mark, you should have realized by now that your local FF establishments are a clear step above most locations. While *your* Popeye’s might be pleasant to hang out in, most are not.
Enjoy what the lord hath bestowed upon you— tidy restaurants, excellent service, and ultra value FoFs.
Fast food ain't always fast.
Arby’s w a BOGO sandwich deal through app that ends tomorrow.
As an increasingly curmudgeonly consumer, I am definitely skewing my FF consumption to restaurants and items that are (more or less) dependably good.
As a born curmudgeon, I made that transition very early. When I do get FF these days, the difference in cost between FF & restaurants seems to be shrinking faster than Big Mac patties.
i might visit a chili's for their burger deal. if the waitress/waiter is nice i might even give a $7 cash tip.
it's a trust fun, not trust fund
Money unspent is life unlived.
I’m a big tipper at the Bellagio Craps Table.
my ff routine has been reduced to mcdonalds and me trusty daily double meal.
MY 2026 ff wishes:
- BK starts sending me coupons or reinstates decent app offers
- Arbys: $2 or whatever regular roast beefs. call it a 5-4-10
- MCDs: keep doing what ur doing
- Wendys: FIND THE BEEF
- I get to experience more FF places other than the big 5 or whatever
Best to you and yours
the big 5 or whatever
This got me thinking (never a good sign). In my nape of the neck, that would be Rick's, the King, Jack, the Red Head and Taco Bell. But what about Popeye's, KFC, Cane's, Del Taco, or RB's? Any other possible additions to the Big 5?
I could see maybe one or two subbing out Jack in someone's list.
Due to the other chains lack of any deals worth a damn I have also eaten a **** ton of Ricks the past 6 months. Being the place closest to my house doesn't hurt but the BOGO $1 double cheeseburgers and free fries makes it hard to pass up.
My last 2 Wendys orders were Sep. 2 and July 30 and been to BK 3 times since September. Luckily Carls Jr picked up the slack with the $3 Western Wednesdays for like 2 months. JITB never has any good app deals and it's been at least 2-3 years since they did a 2fer on ultimate cheeseburgers which IMO is the only burger worth ordering there.

CFA tho
Should we differentiate between burgers n chickens?
CFA is easily number one, so we'd just be arguing about the other 4
