Grand Victoria Casino (Elgin, IL)
Was just wondering if anyone played there and is the staff good, what is the rake, how long the wait usually is,comps??? W
What about Rockford and Waukegan? I'm sure people near Waukegan especially north likely just go to Potowatomi over Elgin anyway..... Rockford no idea.
GVC needs to do something drastic to bring players back, like free food or cheaper drinks or something. I don't know, any ideas?
Promos would help given the player pool there. The amount of shortstacking sucks.
Also better dealers, though not sure they're bad enough people don't go purely on that basis.
They might be SOL.
Where to start??? I had a thread in bm complaining about gvc dealers ID'ing players seated at the table... That was ******ed to me because they stop the whole action and create a fuss. Then they offer a "promotion" where you embarass yourself by wearing a shirt that declares you misplayed your aces- I actually receive mail promoting the aces beat jackpot- where you win a ha
Wow, it sounds like that place is just a whirlwind of chaos and questionable choices! You've got dealers halting games, cringeworthy promotions, double standards everywhere, and random rule enforcement — it’s like they’re intentionally trying to throw everyone off their game before the flop.
Played last night for the 4th night in a row at GVC. Was told that Olga is the new poker room manager. She has been there for a number of years and should bring some new ideas to the room.
Agree with Amigo on the short stacking. Hard pressed to find a stack over $100 over the 5 hour evening session.
The 2nd promo dollar will be coming out when the pot reaches $40. A dealer at the table mentioned that this should sway people from Rivers were the 2nd promo dollar comes out once the pot reaches $20.
I highly doubt the second dollar coming out at $40, instead of $20, will sway many players. Location, as well as the quality and consistency of games, will do the most swaying. Promotions will also play a significant part as well.
Not a poker answer but I'd like to see more/bigger/better located TV's showing different sports on them. The same crappy college football game isn't keeping me occupied between hands.
Hello All,
Does someone know where I can find the structure for WSOP Circuit ?
Thank you,
Thank you! !!!
Actually today they also posted a QR codes in the poker room .
The complaints here are laughable, flat out impossible, or stupid.
How many times in your life did you participate in a BBJ?
How is it stupid for them to pause the BBJ because it became so low due to a fluke of 3 hits in a short time?
They are restarting it in January once the fund builds back up
I'd rather have HH anyway,
The dealers are fine, many are outstanding, they can deal 250 hands in a shift
and if they have one brain fart you lose your minds.
Oh, and for the record, 249 out of 250 is 99.6% perfect
I play the 1-3 regularly and almost never see a sub $100 stack
You dont like the games on the TV? Didja ever think to ask them to change it?
I always request specific games and 100% of the time they make it happen.
Go be the 75th person on the waitlist at Rivers
instead of driving 20 more minutes to get immediate seating
if you're that miserable!

Lighten up, Francis.
Glad to hear they're bringing back the BBJ, that's good news.
If you're a regular there, you know damn well that there was one VERY problematic dealer that received countless complaints. Maybe they took her off the tables, it's been a few months since I've played there. Then there are a few others that don't adhere to the basic rule of "dummy up and deal." One guy's complaining about tips, the other is openly discussing his gay relationship. Get outta here with that nonsense. Never had an issue like that at Rivers.

lol
I appreciate the complaining about tips, but why have you got a problem with someone discussing their relationship if it doesn't affect their dealing?

Because anecdotes and opinions aren't part of the dealer's job. The golden rule is "dummy up and deal" aka keep your mouth shut and the game moving. I've dealt plenty of private games alongside other dealers, and it's always the chatterboxes that get the most complaints.
Why don’t they raise the cap on the 1/3 games to $500 seems like it’s higher in every Chicago room but here.

- closer to 40 minutes (30 miles)
I'll be headed there to visit a friend in the next few weeks, will report back...
...but I'll just shout into the void cause no one reads this.

Yes it certainly had nothing to do with *what* the dealer was discussing that was what annoyed you, that would be why you focused on the fact it was a gay relationship. FOH.

Interesting assumption, albeit terribly incorrect. I couldn't care less what two consenting adults do behind closed doors. I merely pointed it out to exhibit the sheer absurdity of such a comment. It's one thing to run your mouth as a dealer, but to discuss your gay relationship is akin to tip suicide. Even in Illinois, it's fairly obvious that poker circles tend to skew center-right. You want to maximize your tips as a dealer? Read the room and shut your mouth.
Who was the mastermind that thinks more rake will bring more people to tournaments? What a stupid decision. The only chance for Grand Vic to compete was thru tournaments but now looks that they don't care just raise the rake for more profit but nothing for the players. Now probably I will save my bankroll for big series WSOP Circuits and MSPT.
How do you figure out tournament rake? It's not on Bravo - did you ask them in person?
It is detailed on Poker Atlas and on the prints in the poker room.
Tuesday was 22.5% now is 25%
Friday was 22.5% now is 24%
Sunday was 20% now is 21%
$5 of each tournament goes to promo , no information what kind of promo yet .
lol that's all I need to know. Will follow your advice and stick to the home game Circut around there.
Used to play a bunch in the home game circuit around there in late 2000s. It was pretty wild, the drop was cheaper but it was probably bigger gross that at the casino. We had casino dealers do it on their spare time. Food was better too lol
Thanks. Promo could be bad beat - their Facebook page says it restarted in January.
Bad beat is for cash games , tournaments doesn't qualify for bad beat hands.
