I’m sure he would love to be the next Frank Kush and a legend in Scottsdale but he just signed the #40 recruiting class and lost multi year starters at QB, LT, and CB to the portal. He obviously hasn’t been able to get enough donor support together to be competitive in the modern NIL era so I think it would be really hard to turn down the money and opportunity of a Michigan off

so you missed her initial whipsaw technique against bigotry and now a sort of numbness is somehow taking over
the Dilly crushing tenure is up to him

Dilly is staying at ASU. So, Michigan is about to whiff on their first and second choice? Lmao

Future Unc interim coach Bobby Petrino

Can’t find it but I know a posted a half joking half serious that Michigan should hire Whittingham as a 2-3 year bridge with a pristine record & reputation during the erasure of Swampbaugh’s black mold of corruption.

God knows what tip of the iceberg the law firm just found but it looks like it’s happening. He’ll certainly do a better job retaining players/recruits than anyone else one would think, he has a gravitas the parents, donors & local media will eat up, he won’t be bringing Scalley along, and most importantly Michigan will avoid the death penalty if he’s the coach.

Wittingham to Michigan is the funniest ****ing thing ive seen in forever and a day

Have fun with that

Whit is a great coach, esp bridging the next few years while M cleans house.

*dodging flying pigs & purple cows whilst defending Whittingham*

You want Petrino? Kid Killer? Give Urban a chance to rehab HIS image? 4/100 for Saban? Some coordinator who’s never talked to a centimillionaire donor or appeared on a national TV show?

Exactly. It’s going to be an unreal shitshow—they wouldn’t be wanting him in right now instead of waiting for DeBoer (whi’d likely be eyeballing the NFL after awhile) if it wasn’t—and Whit is a calm adult presence without a whiff of scandal who knows how to talk to all the stakeholders without sounding like a corporate mercenary. Hell, NCAA will go much easier on them with him there.

Minimum 85% of his game day foibles will be instantly solved by a geometric, logarithmic increase in 4/5 star talent & NIL money. His rep should keep most if not all of the current studs. And Michigan will always be on 5 star recruits final lists with Daffy Duck coaching.

They don’t need a white knight now, they need to keep the ship afloat and get her back safe to harbor. A sturdy, not without aesthetic charm bridge for the next 3-4 years.

Sheet, it might even be shocking what he can do with a passing game that can sometimes win talent matchups.

Kyle made chicken salad for 20 years in Utah, same as Gobert giving the Jazz a perennial top 3 defense with Donovan Mitchell. Check back with both programs in 34 months.

the UU youts have had a ‘coach in waiting’ since pre-covid times and it was already arranged Whit would be leaving for DC Scalley to take over before he was poached by another school.

Said coach in waiting garnered zero interest from any other school. As i said, this will be like Tyrone Corbin taking over from Jerry Sloan.

I'm very happy with the Whittingham hire. He coaches the EXACT brand of football that scares Ryan Day shitless. Never wanted Deboer. Don't wanna watch Michigan become a finesse team that can't run. Whittingham's age is completely irrelevant by the way. The roster is stacked with young talent. We are set up perfectly to win a national title in 2027. Having a premium HOF coach just makes us more likely to do it.

It's funny seeing all the Ohio State fans bask in the Sherrone scandal on reddit. Really shows how moronic that fanbase is. If there was such a thing as a rational Ohio State fan possessing that unique human quality called foresight they would realize that Michigan luckboxing into a HUGE upgrade at Head coach is a bad thing for them. A very bad thing. Michigan is more BACK than ever fellas.

This is Michigan getting back to basics and going with the coach who will narrowly lose the Rose Bowl 🙂

Seriously though, I will always appreciate Whittingham in 2022, Utah put a stop to a resurgent Southern Cal and their bold new hire in Lincoln Riley. The Trojans would have won the PAC 12 on their way out the door, but for Utah winning in season then again in the PACCG rematch.

2009 Sugar Bowl over Saban was nice but forgotten.

Whittingham is a very good hire for Michigan. Anyone who thinks otherwise is crazy. They absolutely could win a national title with him.

we older vehicular sticklers always hoped the oregon punishing under Whit was quickly followed with a bye week while them youts drove that mud-flapping trailer coal-running ford f-350 convoy right back toward their duly-noted bee hive state

aka, if there’s a way to read a sign to ice up kevlar plates and migraine hats son after 47 straight tactical dive plays gaining 3.57 yards each for the new wolverine youth to cheer for as if filming the sequel to Red Dawn

I'm going to take this as an endorsement. I mean, how can SRM hate on a coach that gifted his team with ALEX SMITH?

Alex Smith makes a Super Bowl if not for a backup punt returner in a monsoon, and an early whistle on a stripsack.

Northwestern is hiring Chip Kelly to be their OC. Never thought I would type that sentence but here we are. Seems like a weird hire? I dunno. He’s still a good offensive coach we will see if it works out I guess.

Assuming the AI is correct (big if), Ohio hasn’t missed him at all. He probably won’t hurt NU unless he starts clashing with the HC or interviews with the NFL on the sly, but his miracle worker days are long gone.

It’s happening, ILP!!
