TR Jan 1-5
Trip reports are rather sparse these days so I'll commit to doing one. Here's a link to my last one:

Leaving Minneapolis early on Jan 1 nonstop to LV. First night at Resorts World and then three nights at Horseshoe. I'm planning on several cash game sessions (Encore, Venetian, Aria, Horseshoe, etc) and maybe a tourney or two. Dining choices will not be exotic since my wife is not making the trip. Think Wazuzu at poker table in Encore or run upstairs for Lola's smash burger from Proper Eats at Aria. My friend Matt is joining me but he's mostly a tourney player.
I'll post shoes & roll pic later.

Run good in the new year!
Looking forward to it.
Start the new year with a BANG!!

Good luck, Sir! And Happy New Year.
In for a reezer TR. Glad to hear you're getting out of the arctic for a few days.
I'll be walking around Vegas in shorts and a hoodie laughing at the people in parkas and mittens.
Looking forward to the TR. Run well.
excited for your trip. it is a great time to leave the nothern midwest.
good luck at the tables
Enjoy! There were some rumors recently that the RW poker room might be closing at the end of the year. I'm curious to hear if that materializes.
Would be a shame to lose a great room, but I know they've struggled for traffic at times.

That would explain the absence of tourneys on Poker Atlas.

when it has games running it's my favorite place to play poker. it's the most comfortable room and has top tier dealers
I'm in. Run well and start 2026 with a bang!
Currently sitting in 1/3 game at Bellagio. When I grabbed an Uber from the airport at 820am there were exactly zero other people waiting for a ride. Hasnβt been this dead since January β21 after Covid. Hereβs a pic of the Bellagio walkway going away from hotel lobby.

I ate two energy bars since I left home along with a blueberry muffin. No pics. Iβll post a couple hands later since I already got felted.

Played a little over four hours at Bellagio basically being card dead. Face card/low card at a a very tight table. I did get into a hand about forty minutes in when UTG makes it $10 and it folds to me on button. I call with Ac7c planning to use my position. Both blinds call with stacks of 200 or so. My stack is $285 and UTG has a lot. Flop is 7s5s7h. V bets 25 and I call. BB calls after checking first action. Turn is 6d and he bets 50. I raise to 155 trying to target an overpair or drawing hand. Only UTG calls. River is 8d and he shoves. I call with my trips and a shrunken stack. He shows 9d7d for straight. Time to reload.
Played for several hours without any other real significant hands. In for 700 out for 402.
Also made this bet

And ate tacos from Michos Tacos at RW

Matt and I walked over to Encore to play 1/3 and watch football. Buy in for 500 and splash around a little. With my stack at 530, there are four limpers and the button makes it $30. SB folds and I look down at Kβs in BB. I raise to 125. Everyone folds and button tanks for a minute before shoving. He has me covered. I call. Board runs out J84JT all red. He flips over red Aβs. Ugh.

yeah when 5-6-7-8 is on board you gotta bail
MP player makes it $10 and is called by HJ and CO. Button raise to $30. I have AcQc in SB and 3-bet to $125. Folds to button who shoves. Another 375 to call. I fold after some posturing. He just says he had me beat.
I have Ac8d in BB and just check when five people limp. Flop is 9h8h8d and I lead out 12 when SB checks thinking I want calls from the drawing hands. I get called by four people. Turn is 2c and I lead out for 50. UTG is a young Asian girl (see what Iβm doing here BigWhale?) who calls and everyone else folds. River is Jc and I bet 65 wanting a call from 8x. She snap calls and flips over Qc8c for second place.
Earlier in this session I moved seats to be to the left of an older crazy Asian guy who just rammed and jammed constantly. The whole table was trying to isolate him. Somehow he accumulated a 600 stack. He limps UTG and I raise to 20 w AhKs. CO and button call. Crazy Asian guy pumps it to $60. Iβm thinking he has a middle pair or a small ace. I just call and the others fold. Flop AdJs2h. He bets 60 again without even digesting the cards on the flop. I call. Turn is 3D and he bets 100 without hesitation. I call. River is a 7 and he says βall inβ almost before the card hits. I call and he shows A5o. So then my stack looks like this

In for $1000 and out for 1249. lol.
Time to get food.

Great job calling vs the maniac. You want him to stay in the lead, OOP.

Need more information on the opponents ethnicity before concluding on this one π
In all seriousness, I think this flop have to be a raise and we can balance it out with raising some draws as well. But he does bet $25 into $40 into three other opponents after raising from UTG, so his range should be strong here.
(all the more reason to raise trips!)
As played it seems you got pot-stuck and was forced to call down. If you are just going to call flop, I think jamming the turn would have been much better instead of making it $155. Result would be the same, but it feels better getting it in ahead at least.

Sounds like a fun player π I need to make it over to Wynn next time I am in town!

I was thinking exactly the same originally, but raising flop makes this hand so much easier to play. On turn its 250 into 165 if we jam, but 200 for him to call into 415 on the other side so I wonder if being nitty and calling turn is the play here, with the plan to jam 200 into 215 on any safe rivers as board on turn is 7-7-6-5ssxx and I doubt a flush draw double barrels here? We have position so can take this line safely and not miss bluffs.
Either way, the main thing to take from this hand is never raise >50% of your stack on the turn. Either call to jam river or just stick it in.
Thanks for the feedback Big and Karma. I agree with your perspective and itβs much clearer now.
The guy was a Bellagio regular. White guy late 30βs. Knew every dealer.

What is better flop bet sizing in this hand:
Iβm UTG w AhAc and make it 20. Three callers including BB. flop is Qh8s2s. BB checks and I bet 65 into 80 targeting a Q and draws. Everyone folds.

I love it, and I should size bigger like this myself more often. With 3 opponents, no-one is folding Qx and no one is folding spades.
Only argument for betting smaller is to get 8x and pairs like 99 to stick around, but I do think some of these might even call once regardless, especially if they are closing the action.
