Venezuela
Is Venezuela lost for decades? Is it going to become a full blown pariah state? The opposition leader Guido seems like a
Man the US military just clowned them pretty good.
One of the positives to be taken from this is the US signaling to Victorsβ favorite actors like Russia, Iran and NK that despite Europeβs current ineptitude at self defense, the US still fields the undisputed strongest and most capable military in human history.
Seems likely that Maduro was basically given up from the inside
seems that way. hell Ive seen people speculate that its all for show and Maduro himself agreed to this. and Ive seen people blame the Chinese as one of their Ambassadors had met with Maduro a few hours earlier.
but assuming this is real, it kind of shows how he wasnt really a dictator at all. I thought it was super strange that Machado was in Venezuela and living freely and openly until a few weeks ago. like, if I am in charge she is in jail and so is anyone who supports her. same with Guaido who was giving speeches like 5 years ago about how should be installed by the USA as president. worst dictator ever. I mean ffs, this isnt the first time a president was abducted from Venezuela by the USA with support of reactionary elements.

it shows that Russia was absolutely correct to invade Ukraine. and it showed once again that I underestimated the evil and depravity of the Empire. Putin would have been getting assraped to death by Israeli trained good ole boys and Russia would have been asset stripped and split up if he hadnt.
and for the record, yes I will admit that until now I was absolutely wrong in believing he was wrong to invade from a moral and strategic standpoint.

It’s almost like you have no idea what you’re talking about. Once your Reddit talking points run out of steam you’re completely lost.
It’s embarrassing that the mods have a soft spot for you and allow you to continue to spread your filth.
Well I just watched the democratically elected leader of a non-threatening country abducted and tortured on a plane as shown by the president of the USA for the express purpose of stealing that country's resources. You think that wasn't the plan with Russia? A country with a lot more resources.
Hopefully there are pragmatic actors in the Venezuelan junta that realize there is no future in continuing Maduro's alliance with the IRGC and Putin's Russia; and for everyone's sake there is a mostly bloodless re-alignment with the US. And it is certainly possible this was arranged before the raid.
If anyone is expecting that Machado (who is widely regarded as the rightfully elected leader) to take power, I suspect they are going to be disappointed. But things were so bad for the people under Maduro, I think there should be some optimism there can be a relatively seamless alignment of the current junta with the US, where things get significantly better for the people of Venezuela. And possible real elections down the road where Machado can run again if she is inclined.
50 people were slaughtered. so ya, bloodless. bc they werent Israelis.
Why? Because it has been working so well? Or just some first principle anti-American sentiment, and you are indifferent to how well it works?
Venezuela is more or less a failed state, where things have gotten so bad it went through a real famine where people actually starved en masse; much worse than the fake Gaza famine.
Nationalization has been a big part of the problem; and I find it hard to believe it is going to be part of any solution. Maduro was a bus driver who was hand picked by Chavez to be a yes man. Neither him or anyone else in the Junta has shown the slightest capability to actually run a country.

They can get a trusted partner like China to guide them. Their style of nationalized industry seems to be doing pretty good.

You're being sincere here but China doesn't get rich nationalizing things - teaching others that isn't going to do ****. They got rich because they let their markets build things that the world needed and made bank off of exporting those things using cheap labor. The nationalization was what they did with their profits - basically their version of govt subsidies in the US.
You need the profits first before you can distribute anything.
this video is how I found about the news:

Venezuela has a different starting point but they have a few things to export that the world will purchase. Seems like a decent start. I'm sure Winnie and the team can come up with a decent roadmap for them.

For sure, it's just that no matter how it's accepted, it's going to require them to get their hands dirty on their own like China, India, or the U.S - not some idiotic attempt to close down your limited private businesses and factories on the hopes of some magical redistribution system - which was mostly just a bad faith smash and grab and painted as the former.
I mean, China can teach them how to operate low-cost factories at a fraction of wages of the US to generate profits. That isnβt a jab at China, itβs just to show that China relied on a lot of grunt work to make things work.
Didn't they have a principle saying...βWe run the country, you work hard, the economy grows, and your living standards improve.β
...But Trump is going to turn the place into his own little circus show now so it really doesn't matter anymore.
I'm sure a ton of Venezuelans would be more than happy to take any job if they had confidence in their government reinvesting in them and having affordable living.
Trump may not be wrong. Because of off the charts corruption, I think the majority of SEA countries should just outsource their govt to Singapore.
Latin America in the same boat. Maybe bring in the Nordics

Yeah, I agree. And I think that's a major difference between a China and Venezuela.
Serious Q: Does the USA have 51 states now?
If the answer is yes, think of all the flag/merchandise sales Trump could generate!

If the 51st state in this scenario has no voting rights, no freedom to travel to any of the other 50 states and hand over all their resources to the motherland, then yeah, sure.

No, there is nothing that says that any territory that we occupy automatically becomes part of the US. That has to be a statutory decision decided by congress. Any rights that a territory may have is also decided by congress, which is why Puerto Ricans get US Citizenship but people from Guam or Samoa have to apply.
