Meh my car just parks itself.

Yeah, the people who were slow to catch on seem to finally be catching on.

In a nutshell, I can back into my parking spot more quickly and safely than you can back out of yours.

I've seen a handful of you in the wild but it's few and far between

If the parking lot doesn't have any spots where I can pull straight through so I never have to put it in reverse, then the store is too crowded for me.

If you don't have the patience or time to wait an extra 10-15 seconds keep your grumpy ass at home. Or take the bus or something.

Just do what I do. I can't see squat when backing out of a space--particularly if an SUV or bigass pickup (there is hardly anything else on the road here) is next to me. I back up a foot or two; if there is no impact or blaring horn, I back the rest of the way out.

i have a utility client that requires backing into any of their parking stalls.

you may not be in a hurry when you get there, but you just might be when you're leaving

There is a case to be made for backing into a parking space. It is marginally safer as you have a front view when leaving when you are likely to encounter traffic/pedestrians.

Still, unless you are very good at it, just stop.

I'm with Bidz. I'll park further away to do a pull-through. Figure it's good for me to take a few extra steps anyway.

why would i ever choose to be a consumer at the sort of establishment with available parking spaces

big part of security training for foreign service gubmint employees is to always back into a parking space for a quick and hasty exit

I would think you could just have your driver circle the lot, your highness.

Ain't nobody in my neighborhood looking for a quick escape from anything. They're looking for an excuse to pull their weapon.

As I get older (and though I still feel like I'm around 40 inside my own head, there's no denying my age when I pass by a mirror), I feel very fortunate to have a lot of very good friends, and even some more casual friends, whose company and comaraderie I value greatly. I still regularly get together (maybe 6-8 times a year) with a half dozen high school friends. I also have a great many people in the poker room and at the golf course who I enjoy immensely.

The things I value are a good sense of humor (I like to think I have a decent sense of humor, though sometimes my lack of an inner censor can be a problem) and also just basic kindness.

So what am I posting about here?

Well, maybe this is not exactly right for this thread because I'm not actually pissed off by this, but I sometimes regret all the great people in the world that I will never meet or get to know. The people who come into one's life do so mostly by proximity and happenstance.

Reading comments on this forum, I often think that many of you would be people in this category.

People arguing on the internet about the correct way to park their big stupid ugly SUVs, as if it matters.

Now let's do those eye blinding HID headlights

Backers are the worst. You aren't as good at it as you think you are. It takes longer than you think. You're probably taking up two spaces. When you back in everyone needs to wait for you (you selfish prick).

I am as good at backing as I think I am.

Idiots who don't even drive criticizing how I park. **** off before you miss your bus.

You should love people who take public transit. That’s one less vehicle in the traffic that you create.

When you back out everyone has to wait for you. Why would you be able to back out any faster than you can back in?

Cars park better backwards anyways. Especially in modern cars with the reversing camera it's so much easier to do it straight than parking forwards. I don't think I've ever chosen forwards over backwards in over 25 years. I spent 5 years working as a parking valet when I was in university. Parking backwards was mandatory by the valet company. Because it's clearly better.

by whatthejish m

Much higher chance of impeding traffic flow when backing in than backing out. It’s a selfish decision that doesn’t even really help you in any way.
.

Both of these statements are remarkably.wrong.

Songs that have sick beats but stupid lyrics.

When you back out everyone has to wait for you.

Only if you are a glassbowl who backs out in front of oncoming cars.

Yeah, wtf. You’re the one who’s supposed to wait when you’re backing out. Much higher chance of making someone else wait when you back in.

Selfish gonna selfish.

Unless there's absolutely nobody around, by the time you do the backing out move, someone ends up waiting. And the chance of an accident is easily higher.

Driving in forwards pretty much only works for small cars. Which should tell you something.
