I've seen the footage from several angles and it's clearly not self defense. Even though the firing officer was in front of the vehicle when it started moving, he could not reasonably have felt like his life was in danger and deadly force was justified. He could have (and did) just step out of the way. And as pointed out above, he continued to fire after he was clear of the vehicle.

Victim named as Renee Nicole Good
The woman killed by an ICE agent has been identified by her mother as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.
Donna Ganger, her mother, told the Star Tribune that Renee was “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known”.
“She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being,” she said.
Ganger also disputed that her daughter was threatening agents, saying: “That’s so stupid. She was probably terrified.”
An Instagram account that appears to be Good’s describes her as a “poet and writer and wife and mom and shitty guitar strummer from Colorado; experiencing Minneapolis, MN.”
Good had previously been married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died in 2023 at the age of 36. Macklin’s father, Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., was shocked to hear the news that Good had been shot and killed.
He said Good and his son had a child who is now 6 years old. “There’s nobody else in his life,” Macklin Sr. said. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”
There's literally video of this guy walking up to his car, getting in and driving away. Can't get away w/ this kind of disinformation as easily anymore, when everyone has video cameras in their hands.

The store is 2 minutes away and she doesn't bring her ID
At the store is an ICE checkpoint
She gets caught up in the checkpoint and they are harassing her about her ID
Suddenly there are three ICE cars around her and 8 agents with a couple touching their guns
They are yelling conflicting commands "GET OUT OF HERE", "GET OUT OF THE CAR"
Shes panicing
She goes with "get out of here" because that seems infinitely more appealing

I'll just say this, he had zero interest in getting out of the way. All he had to do was take one step to his right. By the time he fired the first shot, his body is completely to the side of the car and hes literally leaning into it instead of moving. Obviously she shouldn't have put herself in that situation. But what she did shouldn't be a death sentence

And, he already had withdrawn his pistol. It all happened so fast, and there was no reason to escalate things so quickly.
It doesn't even matter. Nobody should be ok w/ officers of any kind shooting someone point-blank in the face when they are clearly no threat. She's a 37 y/o woman.
I try and grapple why some people think this is funny, good, or even support it. But I had a good friend recently remind me that some people just root for the bad guy. I used to be super empathetic and had that grinded out of me into my early 20s where I was a pretty severe edgelord. I'm sure there are many flavors, but I had lived a pretty hard life to get there and had a deep seated resentment about many different things. I don't know if I would have ever cheered something like this on, but probably would have memed it immediately

The deceased had been following, impeding and harassing the officers for some length of time by the time it escalated to that point. The officers had reached their limit, decided to arrest her, she panicked, they panicked, and what happened happened.
If leftists are going to keep engaging in confrontational, and often violent, agitation; and if Democrat lawmakers are going to keep encouraging this behavior; stuff like this is inevitably going to happen. It is just a numbers game.
Most of the time the activist in question will just be arrested (or sometimes even get away), probably get all the charges dropped, and everyone will go about their day. But some non negligible % of the time, things will escalate and people will get hurt.
It should also be noted that in these type of situations leftist activists are used to dealign with professional, well trained federal officers. And it is a testament to their professionalism that things dont escalate more often (See Portland riots in the Summer of Floyd). However, many of the ICE officers are new, raw recruits and aren't going to handle situations as professionally as leftist agitators have grown to expect.
