ATs facing a UTG RFI

1/3. 700 effective. Rake 6+3+2.

V has VPIP/RFI/3B of 60-25-6. He open-limps, calls limps, calls raises, but three bets a narrow range of premiums.

HJ, CO, and BTN are calling stations.

Hero is on a heater. He has three-bet five times in three orbits. He has a LAG image.

OTTH

Straddle 6. SB folds. V in BB opens 46. Folds to hero in LJ with ATss facing three calling stations. Hero?

Fold. If you call that makes 4 stations.

Yeah, seems like a pretty trivial fold.

I think it’s worth considering your image on a heater. Did you get calls or folds on those 3bets? Would they all call if you bet 150? Would you be getting yourself heads up against a premium or could he have worse?

If you don’t have some real reasons though, this is certainly a fold. You don’t want to jump on happy tilt, and give some of it back.

No matter how you get involved, there are too many variables to predict later streets, so getting out early seems best.

Seems like a trivial fold facing this massive of an open (even deep). Heck, even if the 3 calling stations called before us (which they are most definitely not all guaranteed to do in our actual spot) I think this sizing is likely too large to overcall.

Hero folds.

What about AJs in this la spot? 3bet or also fold facing the stations?

Versus this sizing from this player and position, I would only play premium hands. Definitely 3!-ing at least KK+.

It still becomes player dependent, because I know players that open huge like this with small pairs. But for the majority of the pool, this could be aces.

It’s not an awful thought process
Bet big with big hands

Most people just call most everything from the big blind. Huge bet coming from there is usually not a joke. I guess there could be an incentive to call (with no one likely to raise behind) and play fit or fold.

When people declare big pockets with a big bet like this, many players call with the idea that if they hit their hand, they will stack the guy that can’t get away from their aces. This does work sometimes.

I might put more emphasis on avoiding family pots than most, because it becomes a crap shoot with so many ranges involved. I can lay down good hands early in a messy situation like this (are you kidding me, you’ve got three stations directly behind you) because why take the risk. You should be printing in this lineup.

Would face some indecision with AK, but folding lesser hands without much thought.

By your own read, V is 3! 6%. I modified my calc's 6% to give a range of JJ+, ATs+, AJo, and that may be too loose. (My calc throws hands like TT-88 in, whereas I think a typical LLS V is more likely to 3! AJ instead. YMMV.)

Anyway, ATs is 32.9 vs that. AJs is 37.2. AQs is 48.1, and I'd be fine thinking about seeing a flop with that, especially IP vs the 3!, with a bunch of predictable stations as well.

I'd probably shrug fold AQs without reads that his 8x open from BB vs. a BTN straddle is anything like his normal 25% open range.
