Shocked by "Small Stakes No-Limit Hold'em: Help Them Give You Their Money"
I gather that the authors of this book are active on this forum but I must say I was absolutely SHOCKED at the pre-flop recommendations of this book. To give my background, I'm a recreational for-profit player who has averaged ~300 hours a year since 2010 with a break for a couple of years when I didn't have access to a casino. I've played 90% at the 1/2 or 1/3 stakes and about 10% at 2/5. My long--term win rate has been 12 - 13 bbs per hour.
Based on my experience, I think it is an understatement to say their preflop recommendations are NOT the best way to maximize profit. David gives an example where he overlimps KK after several limpers pre-flop. Then he folds to a single bet on a J97 board. In another spot, they recommend donking heads up with 88 into a 972 board.
David and Mason are clearly smarter than I am, but the first 100 pages of the book were just consistently shocking, to the point where I thought I was reading a spoof.
Did anyone else have a similar experience reading it?
