Netflix "Watch Instantly"
I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream
Watched a thing about it recently, and for Breaking Bad, Vince only had a rough idea how it would go - the famous 'Mr Chips turns into Scarface'. Him and the writers changed and adapted a lot.
Jesse was meant to be killed by Tuco in the first season.
Saul was a very small part, but Bob was so good they wrote a load more for him.
Mike was only created to replace Bob for a bit because he was unavailable to film.
Gus and Hank weren't originally meant to be major characters.
Vince didn't have an ending for the show until the final season.
Better Call Saul was way more structured and planned out.
(from a random YouTube video I stumbled on, so take with a grain of salt)
If you do decide to watch it this will come in very handy:
one of the guys behind lost was an alum of my college and came and spoke about making the show in a small classroom of about 40 or so students
he said something to the effect of "it was originally all mapped out and planned as 3 seasons (may have been 2 as i don't recall the exact number) but the show was such a massive success that the network demanded they tear that plan up and extend it by several seasons
this is why they just continually build and add more questions without answering anything until finally the network says "ok we're done now wrap it up" and they realized they had no end game planned and just had to figure out on the fly how to wrap it up
he said a big way that they extended it was via flashbacks and backstory - originally 100% of the content was going to be happening in real time on the island
lot of recent discussion about dark and how amazing it is
someone said if it was made in english it would have been considerd the GOAT
i was 3 eps in and I couldn't get into it I felt was a huge psychological thriller and im too dumb to follow
I watched one episode and decided it wasn't for me. Which is probably partly based on subtitles which I'm not a fan of particularly for an entire series.
Might revisit it though because it was pretty well regarded.

Hmm - never seen one of these. So…I use this as a reference if something confuses me?

One of my all time favs even being subtitled, by the end I swear I could understand German. Guaranteed if it was made in Hollywood they wouldve ****ed it up and most of the complaints were either 'too hard to follow' or nonsensical physics arguments (hey - no ****, its about time travel)
It requires actually watching with full attention (obv since subtitled) and the fan wiki helps a lot if you read it after each episode, so many moving pieces its easy to get lost and most everything matters in some fashion
Dark is a masterpiece.
Yeah, Dark was indeed top notch/amazing ; 1899, the following one season series of the directors of Dark Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar is pretty solid - if a bit inferior - and in the same fragmented/time travel tune.
I think Dark's main theme is better kept a subtle underlying premise or weird afterthought (like in Lost Highway) than as something to be fully logic'ed across a fleshed out small town, inevitably leading to such a Dostoevsky amount of barely interesting characters and you guys normalizing needing a notepad to watch the show.
I don't even think they executed it poorly, though iirc season 2 onward was too explainy/repetitive for my taste, just that it is better suited to abstraction.
Finished The Beast in Me last night. Very good, Danes and Rhys are both fantastic. Their performances are better than the story but the story is okay. Very watchable.

My spoilery thought
Spoiler
would've been better if it ended with Danes being apprehended/guilty for kidnapping/killing that kid.
also leaves room for another season

yeah that tracks what JJ and others said about it, I think thats why these shows liek vince did with BB/BCS sopranos etc have their own vision and can map it out. still think Lost is good but could have been a GOAT show if it was more tight and let them end when they wanted. ending was fine tho

yup I agree

like I said, I wish I could have enjoyed it but 3-4 eps in and I was like, I amNOT smart enough to follow this.
subtites are fine, ive watched a bunch of anime subbed and korean films but I just felt it was going down the right of a pure high psychological thriller with tons and tons of out there stuff kinda like stranger things in a sense to piece together so I was like I cant
It’s been a while since I watched Dark, but 3-4 episodes in, I don’t think you are supposed to know what’s going on at that point. I think it’s around episode 6 or 7 where things start coming together. My memory may be off though
Tonight is Hijack season 2 on Apple.
Thursday is Ponies on Peacock (full 8 episode drop) and Gangs of London season 3 on AMC+.
Finished Peacemaker last night. Thought it was great. One of those shows where I'd watch just one more episode, then realized I'm going to bed at 3am, lol. Eagly is the best.
I watched the first 3 episodes of Ponies, its good, gets better as it goes. Its Khaleesi and the weird girl from season 2 of The White Lotus.
Yea, same weird hair. lol
i watched "The Rip" matt damon , ben affleck last night i thought it was good film 7/10
